Wings re-sign Francis Pare

This is one of the Wings scouting gems in the rough. Yet another undrafted player with potential to be a solid player. I'm glad to see the Red Wings still have the ability to come up with guys like this

He's 24 now...I wonder if Peters and Blashill being added to the staff will enable more call-ups of guys like this, and less young talent languishing perhaps too long in the minors.

He's a fun guy to be around too. He did an event at the Applebees I work at where he served tables for charity. At the end they sold off some gear, including the aprons the players wore. I got Pare's and Ehrhardt's. Since the manager there knows the people who ran the charity he had the guy bring them back to the Griffin's dressing room and had most of the players sign both.

He's more of a winger than a centre. I'm actually surprised he put up 54 points last season, I didn't think he had that many!

He's got some potential as maybe an NHL depth player when injuries hit, I think he could play minutes and not look out of place. He makes things happen out there and will be one of the Griffins leading scorers this season.

Maybe so but I just don't think the Griffins have anyone else unless the Wings make an acquisition through the Griffins. Pare has played center plenty in his career and with Ilari Filppula gone I think he can do well as his replacement since they seem to have similar skills/weaknesses at the AHL level. I believe he played center when that McGrath-Pare-Lemieux was on fire a couple years ago. Plus it's probably not going to be Andersson and it's not or shouldn't be Johnson or Minard.
