From TSN:

The St. Louis Blues are going to have to make due without veteran forward Jason Arnott for a little while.

The NHL club announced Wednesday that Arnott will undergo surgery to have a cataract removed from his right eye. The Blues added the procedure was scheduled to be performed Wednesday and that Arnott was expected to be sidelined for seven days.

From Toronto Star:

Centre Tim Connolly insists he never hit his head when he flew face first into the end boards during Monday’s practice.

But an “upper-body injury” will keep him out of the final two pre-season games on Friday and Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings — allowing him to be “hopefully” ready for the season opener on Oct. 6 against the Montreal Canadiens.

Speaking of the Leafs, what is Colton Orr's situation? Is he looking healthy? Free of concussion symptoms?

He's fine and ready to go. He was cleared in March last season, but they decided it would be best to give him until training camp to rest up.

From Edmonton Journal:

Re: Taylor Fedun

...

The Edmonton native, who was making a big push for a roster spot after graduating with a mechanical engineering degree from Princeton University, was taken from the ice on a stretcher 90 seconds into the middle period with a broken right femur.

“It’s a complex fracture ... a young man has probably lost his season,” Oilers head coach Tom Renney said after his team’s 4-3 pre-season shootout victory over the Wild.

That is a horrible injury to Taylor Fedun. Could miss the entire season, and it's one of those injuries where the recovery is going to be painfully slow. It actually makes me think Jan got a bit lucky as it could've been worse.

Also this:

ST. LOUIS -- St. Louis Blues winger B.J. Crombeen suffered a left shoulder scapula fracture Saturday during the team's final preseason game against Dallas and will be sidelined indefinitely,

Crombeen was injured in a collision with Dallas' Mark Fistric with 5:59 remaining in the third period of a 4-0 loss to the Stars.

"(Crombeen) went in for a hit and it looked like he lost his balance and went into the boards," Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong said. "It's too bad it happened in the last six minutes of the last preseason games, but it gives us an opportunity to test our depth early."

Broken shoulder blade, can anyone say OUCH.

So many bad injuries already. :(

Detnews

The Wings began preparations for Friday's regular-season opener against Ottawa with Henrik Zetterberg (upper body) and Pavel Datsyuk (sore back) both back on the ice Tuesday after missing last weekend's exhibition games.

"It's amazing how you get rid of exhibition games, everyone gets healthy," coach Mike Babcock said. "It's like the fountain of youth."

Danny Cleary (upper body) also expects to play Friday after missing the final three exhibition games.

Mike Commodore (knee) is expected to be the only regular missing Friday, although Commodore said he was feeling better.

The Wings did have two notable players out of Tuesday's practice. Patrick Eaves (knee) didn't practice after taking a shot off the knee during a penalty kill Sunday against Pittsburgh. Tomas Holmstrom also sat out after experiencing knee soreness. Both are expected to be ready for Friday's game against Ottawa.

From TSN:

The Montreal Canadiens will have to do with injured forward Michael Cammalleri and defenceman Jaroslav Spacek for a little while.

Cammalleri is set to miss between 10 days and two weeks with a deep cut on his right leg.

The injury could have been worse, but no muscle or tendon was cut when he seemd to make contact with teammate Yannick Weber's skate during a 5-1 win in Winnipeg on Sunday. He is to be re-examined by team doctors Saturday.

Spacek, who is believed to have suffered a rib injury when he was checked into the boards, will be out for up to three weeks with what the team is only calling an upper body injury, coach Jacques Martin said Tuesday.

From TSN:

Edit: (Regarding DiPietro)

Seriously, what a career for this guy. So much promise and so much money invested. Bummer. Still hoping Isles can turn it around and not move.

From TSN:

The Anaheim Ducks will be without forward Jason Blake for approximately three months after he suffered a deep cut just above his left wrist on Friday night.

The team announced on Saturday that Blake suffered tendon damage when he was accidentally cut by the skate of San Jose's Brent Burns and will require surgery on Monday in Los Angeles. Blake is expected to make a full recovery.
