HockeytownRules19 902 Report post Posted March 25, 2012 I am completely torn on who I want to root for (all i am asking for is no 3 pt game) If Nashville wins in reg, Chicago will have a tough time getting into that spot... Bad news is Nashville would jump us If Chicago wins, we stay ahead but Chicago stays in it. Decisions, Decisions.... Who do you root for? 1 LidsFan reacted to this
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted March 25, 2012 Sixth place is way better. 3 pt game and Chicago winning would be the best. 1 RedWingsRox reacted to this
HockeytownRules19 902 Report post Posted March 25, 2012 Sixth place is way better. 3 pt game and Chicago winning would be the best. Give me a break man... Do you have any confidence in this team? I have never seen a wings team back away from a challenge... Besides I DO NOT want to start the 1st round on the road... You are discrediting the Pacific champ IMO... I believe we will win the 1st round it doesn't matter who it is 6 Jasper84, hooon, Doc Holliday and 3 others reacted to this
Crashnburnluder 385 Report post Posted March 25, 2012 There is still a decent chance for SJ to win the Division or LA... It isnt a gurentee that we will play Dallas. Sucks points even have to be handed out these days. I don't care who wins just NO 3 point game
SoupSnake 25 Report post Posted March 25, 2012 Settling for 6th place would be disgraceful. I'm sure that isn't the mindset that the team has, and I won't think that way either. 2 LidsFan and Jasper84 reacted to this
greenrebellion 415 Report post Posted March 25, 2012 I feel much more comfortable going against Chicago in the first round than I do Nashville, so I'm rooting for the Blackhawks. Plus the shorter the travel, the better, if we are going to make a long cup run. (Not that Nashville travel is bad but if we end up in sixth we have San Jose, Phoenix or Dallas)
chrisdetroit 189 Report post Posted March 25, 2012 The BEST case for us would be to play Chicago in the first round AND have home ice. Chicago sucks defensively and their goaltenders are not good. Nashville is way better defensively AND has a great goaltender. Chicago is 22nd in the league in GAA. Here's a list of teams in the Western conference with a worse GAA - Edmonton, Columbus. That's it. Defense wins Cups and Chicago has no defense. I'm worried about Renne stealing a game but Crawford or Emery, not so much. The Wings need to finish 4th, Chicago 5th and Nashville 6th. Plus, Chicago is a short flight and nothing would be more satisfying than to bounce them from the playoffs in the first round. Based on this, Nashville needs to lose tonight. 2 Jasper84 and greenrebellion reacted to this
Doc Holliday 1,888 Report post Posted March 25, 2012 Nashville does not scare me. They haven't beaten a legitimate playoff team yet, and if Detroit wants to win the cup, they have to prove they are a legitimate playoff team. 1 Jasper84 reacted to this
vladdy16 2,154 Report post Posted March 25, 2012 This seems like a "Do you want red arsenic or yellow arsenic?" question to me. However, I agree that a Chicago win is better for the Wings.
SoupSnake 25 Report post Posted March 25, 2012 Should be a good game. I think a Chicago win is going to be best for the Wings in the long run. Hopefully it's not a three point night.
HockeytownRules19 902 Report post Posted March 25, 2012 Halischuk scores for the Preds, 1-0... 13:30 left in the 1st

SoupSnake 25 Report post Posted March 26, 2012 I wouldn't mind a first round matchup with Chicago. I think that we would fare well against Nashville or Chicago, but the Blackhawks seem like the overall easier team to beat.

In a 7 game series I don't think either team has the firepower to matchup with the Wings... The Canucks, Blues, etc, that is TBD

HockeytownRules19 902 Report post Posted March 26, 2012 I used to think this about San Jose. no doubt... The big difference IMO when comparing the SJ of the last couple years compared to this year's version of the Preds... Offense (can they get enough scoring)

jollymania 162 Report post Posted March 26, 2012 I don't know why people want to have dallas, you would win the series but at the cost of a few key players who just get killed by fistric or ott or someone.
