No. He's retired, it's over.

If only he didn't have a press conference after the retirement, then he'd have the face to pull a Forsberg. He's not pulling a Favre, imo.
Wings will bring Hasek out of retirement-- I can almost sense it.

No, he's retired, that's over too. Steve's not coming back, Kris Draper isn't coming back, Chris Osgood isn't coming back, Kirk Maltby isn't coming back, no one is coming back.
It's time to move out of the past and step into the present.

"Forwards, not backwards! Upwards, not forwards! And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!"

Even if by some miracle he decided he wanted to play again, NHL rules would prohibit him from returning until the beginning of the 2013-2014 season.
In other words, no way.

The man gave his heart and soul to the Red Wings organization for two decades. Everything about Nick's character alone makes this suggestion unrealistic and selfish.
Enjoy retirement, #5.

Also, sine he announced his retirement publicly he isn't allowed play for one season. Not to mention he sold his house in Detroit and moved his family back to Sweden.

Tried to post this once and it vanished. Please excuse me if this is a double.
I'll agree with the sentiment that it would be nice to have Lidstrom back, but that's as far as I'll go.
Enjoy your retirement, Nick. You deserve it.
(Although if you get too bored...)

Money on the board: $40
Thanks for a great season, guys. You exceeded expectations and have given us something to look forward to as the long summer approaches.
And next year we get to start in October, like hockey is SUPPOSED to.

Can't we just clone him, maybe a younger Nick?

He made kids. No Lidstrom will ever wear a different jersey than Wings/Sweden!
Wings need some Ryan Pulock in the 1st round, a goal scorer in the 2nd round and rounds 3-7 all guys 6'4 or bigger. Please sign Dekeyser to play with Smith. <--Dekeyser signed, Paired next year. Mark your calendars.
Tootoo needs a partner in crime that plays like him on the other side of Helm. Oh hey, we have Mitchell Callahan. Problem solved.
