Why didn't they just give Slovakia a team? Do they want Kopitar in the tournament that badly?

And the under 23 team North America is stupid also. Not sure why such a simple format that worked in the past needed to be altered. This idiocy reminds me of modern day WWE booking.

Dude, that's the second time you've trashed modern WWE. It's really not that bad. Sure the "reality era" thing was stupid, but most of the bad booking has more to do with making up for past mistakes than it does with being bad currently. The only superstar who's been handled correctly in the last 5-6 years is Lesnar. They botched everybody else, so what are they supposed to do now?

As a person of 100% Slovak decent, this really bothers me (not your post, the setup of the tourney). For years Slovakia has had to deal with not being respected in international play as a top team, even after almost eliminating Canada back in 2010. They deserve their own team.

It's not just Slovakia it's also Switzerland. I mean after the KHL, SEL this is the 3rd best league in Europe so probably the fourth best league worldwide and they aren't invited what gives? I mean do they really not want to showcase guys like Hiller, Tatar, Sbisa..? Team Europe and Team under 23 is such an embarassment I'm sure Eichel and McDavid would love playing for their own country instead of a continent the same thing might be true for team Europe.

It's clear that not every country can have their own team but seriously no Switzerland, Slovakia ? That's just stupid. Also the decision to hire John Tortarella doesn't exactly scream enjoyment, I'd rather train 3 times a day than spending a week being coached by someone who's biggest assets are screaming at his players and not being able to control his temper tantrums.

That's a crazy list. I didn't even know Mexico had a team. And how is France ranked above Austria and Germany? Those teams have at least appeared in international tournaments in recent memory. When has France done that?
