After an intense event on the national stage this past weekend, the legendary Detroit Red Wings make their triumphant return home tonight, eagerly anticipating to end their losing skid as they host the formidable Carolina Hurricanes.

The Red Wings are fresh off the fifth outdoor game in franchise history. In taking on the Columbus Blue Jackets in the Stadium Series at Ohio Stadium, Detroit engaged in an exhilarating clash between regional rivals, captivating a crowd that marked the second-largest gathering in NHL history. However, the Wings found themselves defeated, losing to the Blue Jackets for the second consecutive game, falling 5-3.

Currently, the Red Wings find themselves sitting fourth in the Atlantic Division, holding onto the precious second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Hurricanes arrive in Detroit after completing a three-game homestand, including showdowns against the two teams from Alberta this past weekend. Carolina faced a setback, losing to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday before battling the Calgary Flames on Sunday. The Canes have been struggling recently, losing three of their past four games.

Carolina currently occupies the second position in the Metropolitan Division, trailing the first-place Washington Capitals by a daunting 12 points.

This matchup marks the first of three thrilling meetings between the Wings and Canes in the next month, promising unforgettable moments and fierce competition.

I hope not, but maybe it'll kick start Yzerman to make a trade or three.

Yea probably makes us a seller?  It would be great to make a quality long-term add.
