Jimmybigrigs69 548 Report post Posted December 1 Okay, after this season: Offense: QB Goff - 3 more years RB1 Gibbs - 1 RB2 Montgomery - 3 WR1 St. Brown - 4 WR2 Williams - 5 WR3 Teslaa - 3 LT Decker - 3 LG Ratledge - 3 C Glasgow - 2 RG Mahogany - 2 RT Sewell - 4 TE LaPorta - 1 Clear priority #1 is draft OLine. Then #2 is tight end, depending on LaPorta's health. And a distant #3 is draft a rookie QB. #1 - The loss of Frank Ragow at center has absolutely crippled our interior line. Glasgow has been a shidddd replacement and ideally, he is more of a 2nd string guy. Even if Frank comes back next year that would only be a band aid. We can't count on his health...The kids, Ratledge and Mahogany, should improve with more downs, but Mahogany is often injured. As well, LT Decker is starting to get up there in age and we can't count on his health and high play level much longer. Therefore, we should be targeting GUARD, CENTER, and TACKLE in this draft, with a big emphasis on getting a good CENTER, the GUARDS and TACKLES we can afford late round project players. #2 - LaPorta's health is in question, and it could possibly be career ending. Even if it isn't career ending we should draft a good TE, because who knows how long his health will hold up. If the new TE is just as good, then we also won't have to pay LaPorta on his next contract as well if he is healthy, which buys us time and dollars. #3 - Goff is getting older. It would be nice to draft young QB who can learn from him for the next 3 years and then take over. As we saw in the preseason as well, this team is FUQQQED if Goff gets injured at any point. So having a good backup would be nice... However, this is a need we can address over the next 3 years of drafting. Doesn't have to be this draft. Other notes: I expect this team to PAY Gibbs. He's by far the best RB we've had since Sanders. Get him under contract and then use Montgomery as a trade piece to get something else we want. Monty is going to get less and less downs as time goes forward here, so get something for him now. Gibbs can take over fulltime duties. Defense: DE Hutchinson - 6 years left DE Davenport - UFA DT Reader - 1 DT McNeil - 4 DT Williams - 3 LB Anzalone - 1 LB Campbell - 1 LB Barnes - 3 LB Rodriguez - UFA CB Reed - 3 CB Arnold - 2 CB - Robertson - UFA FS Joseph - 5 SS Branch - 1 Far and away the #1 priority for this defense is draft another EDGE to play with Hutchinson. The #2 priority is drafting depth at the other remaining positions. #1 - Absolutely let Davenport go to free agency, he's been shidddddyyy. Then draft a day 1 starting DE high in this draft to flank Hutch. That would tremendously improve our Dline. #2 - Draft dudes who can fill in for injuries, Anzalone type money hold outs, and in general guys who can step up and play when we can't afford to pay one of our starting LB's or something. Project guys with later picks. Other notes - Williams is a baller on the Dline. We should maybe use Reader as a trade chip and allow Williams to start next season. Regarding the defensive backs I expect this team to PAY Robertson and get him back under contract. He exemplifies everything the grit driven Lions are about. Rodriguez we should probably pay as well. He was very promising before his ACL injury, and he probably won't cost too much because of the time he's been away. I'd keep him on the team as a future Anzalone replacement. I expect the draft this year to look something like this: Rd1: Edge Rusher Rd2: Tight End Rd3: (traded away) Rd4: Center Rd5: Guard or Tackle Rd6: Defensive Player Rd7: Defensive Player or sleeper QB If LaPorta can still play, then take a Center in the 2nd round. And I'm hoping we can trade Reader and/or Monty to maybe get a pick in the 3rd round or for a player we can use right away.
Jimmybigrigs69 548 Report post Posted December 1 Here's how I do it: 1 - T.J. Parker, Edge, Clemson, 6'3" 265 lbs 2 - Max Klare, Tight End, Ohio State, 6'5" 243 lbs 4 - Parker Brailsford, Center, Alabama, 6'2" 290 lbs 5 - J.C. Davis, Tackle, Illinois, 6'5" 320 lbs 6 - Bryce Boettcher, Line Backer, Oregon, 6'3" 232 lbs 7 - Jackson Arnold, Quarter Back, Auburn, 6'1" 219 lbs Parker - The 3rd highest ranked pure edge rusher (doesn't play LB or DL) in this draft. Excels at the pass rush. Should be able to snag in the middle to late 1st round. Klare - The #2 ranked tight end in the draft. Excels at receiving, a perfect replacement for Laporta, or another huge threat in a two TE formation with Laporta. Should be able to snag in the late 2nd or early 3rd round. Snag a buncha Oline pieces and an extra linebacker... Then Jackson Arnold at QB. He's a boom or bust type QB. Give him some time to cook under Goff and then maybe he'll be something when Goff hangs up the spurs.
