Let's go Wings. Get it done boys. Win it for Helmer.
Gonna be at work so 97.1 in the earbuds will have to do!

DRW - 4 (Gustav hat trick, Hank EN) :siren: :siren: :siren: :siren:
Preds - Less than 4.

Envisioning this happening to Weber (Karma) :

Let's go Wings. Let's go boys.

Wings need to make a run for Helmer. Hard working guy all season. Here's to a full recovery! We'll miss you Darren!

#2265424 Brad Stuart's family issues

Posted by Ram on 01 March 2012 - 01:49 PM

I certainly remember the stories claiming he was "reconsidering" the possibility of moving to Sweden. He has done that for as long as he has been earning the larger contracts. Every contract year I have heard stories about this.

Pretty sure Nick only wanted to come back if he knew within himself he was able to perform at a level that was up to his expectations (as he exemplified last year). The guy is extremely hard on himself, I guarantee you he could play for a while still, but if he doesn't think he's good enough, he's gonna retire.

In any job, professional athlete included, money is going to play a major role in dictating how you make your decisions. Thanks for the update.

And I still think it's human nature to want to go back home after retiring, wherever you may be from. IMO.

Does anyone around here know why Brad's family cannot relocate to Detroit? I keep reading about this and it always just says "personal reasons."

What on earth could be holding them in San Jose and totally unable to move anywhere?

Less his tenure with the Bruins and Wings, he's always been a West Coast guy. It's completely understandable for him to want to move back there (where he has played before), especially towards the end of his career and his kids growing up, etc. etc. Do you find it unreasonable for his entire family to move around with him wherever he goes, as a professional athlete? I'm pretty positive that the vast majority of Stevie's family still live here, should they move to Florida now that he will be there for a while?

#2263895 2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET

pittsburgh? you mean the team that's played all year without their best forward?

if the wings lost datsyuk for the year, they would struggle to make the playoffs.

I think that he was referring to the top two guys being out for Chicago, as is not the case for Pitt.

Geno is just as good as Crosby, if not better, IMO.

I hate using the term "easy series" during the playoffs.

But yeah, I can't wait for the playoffs.

Great find. Can't wait for the playoffs. Pavel Datsyuk's favorite player growing up was Pavel Datsyuk.

#2260603 Wings W-L Record In Final 22?

Posted by Ram on 22 February 2012 - 11:34 AM

Well currently I am batting .1000 with my final 22 game W-L predictions and I hope I am wrong about tomorrow's loss to Vancouver.

You're 1 for 10? Where did the time go?

Sucks because Hank was getting going. Oh well. Doesn't sound awful.

#2256475 Rick Nash "available for the right team/price"

Posted by Ram on 14 February 2012 - 11:46 AM

Franzen has a playoff record like no other. Keep him always.

Filp has been an awesome alround performer on the ice, and this year he is having the breakout production year we knew he was capable of having. He does more things better than Nash. Keep him.

We have a ton of depth, a ton, wich translates to assets.

Hudler has been very good this year, but we ultimately want to get bigger, stronger, faster, and score more. Plus, he gets knocked off the puck too easily come playoff time. And he let us know in his own terms (by going to KHL at the last minute after we already made player movements to committ to him) that there is no family loyalty between he and the Wings.

Hudler will atleast alleviate some of the scoring loss for Columbus. The fact that he is too small, slow, and weak for playoff hockey should be a moot point with Columbus.

Package Hudler and Kindl with a balance of picks and prospects that we are comfortable with and hope for the best. If it doesn't work, we have lost nothing. If it does work, we have lost minimal and gained more than we ever could have hoped for.

Sell, Kenny, sell that deal!

I don't want to let go of Mule or Flip either, but unless we throw a bank full of prospects along, Jiri Hudler being the main player being exchanged for Rick Nash is just not going to happen, IMO. Rick Nash. First overall pick Rick Nash. Face of a franchise Rick Nash. Jiri Hudler. KHL Jiri Hudler. UFC fan Jiri Hudler. Just doesn't make sense to me. But yeah, make it happen Kenny! I would love it as a Wings fan.

Part of me believes it was only a matter of time. Nash is a world class player and deserves to be on a more competitive team. Sucks for CBJ. Hope they can get things together one day.

#2254515 Red Wings Alumni lineup

Posted by Ram on 09 February 2012 - 11:11 PM

If the Lightening Organization has any class they will tell Stevie Y to come back and play for his team in the alumni game... I am sure Lightening fans will understand. Hell, most of their fans are actually Red Wings fans just cheering for the Lightening as a second favorite team simply because Stevie is Gm...

I have to disagree. I would say if Stevie has any class, which he clearly does, he will steer clear from it.

Did anyone realistically think he was going to come back and play for the alumni game? Granted it would be absolutely everything we wanted, but it just doesn't make sense. He is literally the #1 guy in the front office for another organization, he is all business, especially in the middle of the season, why would it be legit for him in his position to do something like that? Believe me, if Stevie is throwing on the Winged Wheel again, I would be the first one to be there, but it just doesn't make any sense, and to me it is a class move by the classiest act this sport has ever seen.

That being said, the alumni game and potential roster will not disappoint. Domi and Joey dropping gloves, potential Russian 5 resembled (I am sure they will honor Vladdy in some way); the players who have played for these teams is downright disgusting how deep it could go, I wouldn't want to be the person from each organization who has to choose who plays and who doesn't, because I'm sure almost everyone would love to.

#2251307 Vancouver Sun article on why no one hates the Wings

Posted by Ram on 02 February 2012 - 01:24 PM

Chicago hates the Wings because when their team wasn't on TV and pretty much irrelevant, the crowd simply enjoyed chanting "Detroit Sucks" at every game and it still exists today.
