#2577338 Official 2015 NHL Trade Deadline Thread

Posted by WorkingOvertime on Yesterday, 11:09 AM

The more I think about it, the more I am in the stand pat camp.  Forget about Phaneuf, not enough of an upgrade.

Are there any pending UFAs that are better than Phaneuf? After the past few off-seasons, it is unlikely the Wings are able to pick up a top-3 dman for under ~6m/year in free agency.

Does anyone have a good internet feed?  I cannot find one now that Wiziwig is down

NHL.com and Sportsnet.ca have Sportsnet's coverage.

Stewart is supper lazy

I'm not that high on him, but I think Stewart for a 5th is better value. I am also still upset about giving up the 2nd without a guaranteed 3rd (or 4th) coming back.

Sportsnet is reporting that Detroit has no interest in Phaneuf.

#2576746 Red Wings acquire Erik Cole, conditional 3rd from Stars

Not excited about this trade- I don't see Cole making a big difference moving forward.

#2574932 Zetterberg leaves after 2nd Period; "upper body injury"

Posted by WorkingOvertime on 26 February 2015 - 09:03 AM

I'm apalled that there is no discipline by NHL.  Aren't they already being sued by ex players for concussion issues and head injuries?  This kind is not even 'hockey play' and need to seriously get this sh*t out of the game.

That type of play seems to happen every game. The outcome here is unfortunate, but I don't think there is any/much precedent for suspension.

A little late but LGW!

"Overreacting" is an interesting choice of words to use while defending a guy who was yelling, screaming, breaking glass because the refs at a midget hockey game screwed up a penalty call.

Lets put it this way, if you find yourself getting angry over a midget hockey game...you're a douchebag.

The wheels were off the bus...how is someone expected to react when the wheels are off the bus?

#2550943 Lucic tasting some knuckles...

Lucic seems to have toned down his game lately. I think he will try to do something tonight against the Habs to save face.

I hope to see a shift like this from him tonight.

What a shift by Abby- he's having a very energetic game.

Great hit by Smith.

#2542948 10/21 GDT - Red Wings 1 at Canadiens 2 (OT)

I think Abby gets the first goal- Dats will use him as a human deflection.

#2540490 NHL Gamecenter Live **No illegal stream discussion**

Posted by WorkingOvertime on 13 October 2014 - 01:44 PM

The NHL controls broadcast rights, not the teams.  I'm sure the Yotes and Preds owners don't want the Leafs and Wings making money they can't dip their paws into, or worse, stream the games free on the Wings site so no one makes any cash.

And the NHL has relatively reasonable prices. The AHL and WHL charge $300+ for a full season.

I would like to see the NHL negotiate the next TV contract to give them the ability to offer a no-blackout service to fans.
