#2407659 WCSF Game 3 GDT - Blackhawks 1 @ Red Wings 3 - (DET leads series 2-1)

Posted by evilzyme on Yesterday, 03:14 PM

Did anyone get to hear Micky Redmond on 101WRIF last week? He had brought up that Eddie Olcyzk is the equivalent of him with the Wings, a complete homer color guy. He didn't understand how they would even allow him to be on the broadcast with his absolute bias, and it completely shows. Another funny segment was when they had asked ol Micky if he found himself doing color when he watches the Wings at home. He basically said that he does his own color, which requires him to shut his windows and doors haha.

#2407183 Trade Smith ASAP!

Posted by evilzyme on 19 May 2013 - 10:33 AM

Smith has made mistakes, just as any other rookie would. As many have already stated, he's getting thrown into the fire and having to take on responsibilities that normally would've never found their way to him. He's playing in the 2nd pairing, when he should be on the 3rd. He's playing against Anaheim and Chicago, and their two top lines. That's the #1 and #2 seeds in the Western conference gents. Those are top lines, especially Chicago with how deep they are. I'm sitting here pondering if any of you actually watched Smith through his junior(college)/AHL performances. He has never been that defensive guy, ever. His defense has always been brutal. The upside to him was his offensive capability. Unfortunately, he has nothing to show for that during the regular season. He needs to learn from mistakes when he can make his offensive moves. Not to mention, with this season being so hard on all the rookies, he hasn't had the luxury of pushing offensively. Babcock has had to stress defense first because of our teams capability.

This is on par with the Howard = Average thread, knee-jerk wise. Yes, he makes mistakes. No, we shouldn't trade him. If we're going to allow Kindl and Ericsson to get years for their development, you better give Smitty atleast more than 1 accelerated season(he's played a total of 57 NHL games, including last season, this season, and playoffs. (an NHL season is 82...)) . Absolute knee-jerk here.

#2405816 Babcock confident Datsyuk will stay. Plans to extend this summer

Posted by evilzyme on 16 May 2013 - 11:02 AM

Holland didn't believe Nick was going to retire when he did either.

I really don't remember that being the case this past summer. The previous summers when he started the 1 year deals, Holland was pretty spot on with each one. This last summer, most of them didn't say anything except they felt he could play a few more years but ultimately the decision lays in his hands. I'm not even sure why many are trying to compare Lidstrom's retirement at 42 to Datsyuk at the age of 36.

This just puts a giant smile on my face if it's true. But wait, KUKLAS KORNER SAID THAT THEY HAVE AN INSIDE SOURCE AND HE'S SCARED OF THE EASTERN CONFERENCE?!!!!! They obviously are a better source than Mike Babcock himself.

Games on tomorrow at 8, correct? I'm excited as ever for this one. Think the boys are going to make many posters start singing different tunes. Most likely the same ones that didn't want us to make the playoffs because "we would've just got spanked."

Still busy, but I was able to make this while I had a few minutes. Graph shows PPG over the course of regular seasons, 05-06 - current season;

#2404029 I do / I don't

Posted by evilzyme on 13 May 2013 - 03:33 PM

Oh, I forgot some of my favorites:

I do believe we didn't spend a frickin dime at the trade deadline, kept all of our prospects, and still have made it this far.

I do believe others overpaid like no other and have zero percent to show for it.

I do believe we won more playoff games than Minnesota.

I do believe we made it to the second round, unlike Minnesota.

I do believe Suter and Parise are enjoying watching Red Wings hockey right now.

I do believe centcougar is enjoying watching Red Wings hockey right now.

I do believe we won't have ~23% of our capspace tied to 2 players.

#2403995 I do / I don't

Posted by evilzyme on 13 May 2013 - 02:22 PM

I do believe we have too many fans that will jump to conclusions and talk badly about this team when they shoudn't.

I do believe we have an outstanding team, and with the leadership group and coaching staff we have at hand, anything is possible.

I do believe we just pissed off Anaheim and made Perry cry.

I do believe we can beat the Hawks, and have called it all season that we can do damage in the post season.

I do believe people are too hard on our players, especially when they talk out their ass and don't understand roles.

I do believe Howard can steal a series, and has already proven that.

I do believe Zetterberg is injuried

I do believe Nyquist has improved like no other this season

I do believe we are pretty "deep" and can roll 4 lines.

I don't believe we should be doom and gloom.

I don't believe this team is willing to give up.

I don't believe we should ever give up.

i'll add more later.

The best part, besides the awesome chant, was Palmieri realizing his fate. You see that boy start backtracking as fast as he can, you can almost hear his internal voice screaming, "OH S*** OH S*** REVERSE REVERSE."

I hope Bert AND Tootoo are both in tonight. This team needs a show of force! I mean, why would Sammy possibly be put back in the line-up tonight? His signing was a mistake, it's time to admit that and move on.

Molasses could've made it's way down ice faster than Bertuzzi last game, no thanks. Bring Tootoo in and keep Sammy. He didn't play bad. He got the one penalty and started s*** which resulted in a 4on4 instead of the original powerplay for the Ducks.

#2397284 Samuelsson on the top line tonight - god help us all !

Posted by evilzyme on 06 May 2013 - 11:42 AM

what about andersson???? i know hes a center but hes a body and plays a good 2 way game and then maybe mule can center the 3rd line???

I don't think we can afford to drop him to the Wing. Moving Mule to the third line would then cause a hole in the 2nd line. You need to replace Abby with another big body that can do what he did. Nyquist or any other finesse player isn't going to help on that line. We need a bigger body, especially against the Ducks. Abby was utilizing his body like no other during this series, and was getting under everyone's skin. Plus, Andersson is a solid bottom 6 player. That's where the bread is buttered. I think moving him into the top 6 would cause some problems with him.

The part that depresses me is that we struggle so much to find someone for our top line when Justin freaking Abdelkader is suspended.

We have numerous people that can replace his spot, but not a lot that can replace his "spot" if you get what i'm saying. We have numerous bodies that can roll into that spot and play in the NHL, but we don't have many character players that are willing to finish every check, be a workhorse for pav and Z, put his body in the crease every chance he can get, and be a pest. The closest I can see to that would be Tootoo, and i'm not sure how we would feel about that. Bert needs games before he could be up-to-speed top 6 Bert. He looked horrible on the 4th line the other night. As much slack as Abby got around here, he's going to be damn missed these next 2 games.

#2395322 Danny DeKeyser suffers broken thumb, out for playoffs

Posted by evilzyme on 03 May 2013 - 01:54 PM

Selanne was playing like a ****** goon all game. Him punching DeKeyser in the back of the head 3 times shown how frustrated he was. What is that though, a damn 43-44 year old trying to pick on a 23 year old? Buddy, if you wanna get froggy, go try that bulls*** against someone like Bert. Bert would've turned around and sent Selanne back into the womb.

Frickin Bert hahahha

On the ticket right now, theyre talking about how Babs was hot during an interview with stoney this morning. After hearing it, he didnt sound too happy to me either. Hopefully hes bringing the pain to those guys in the locker room tonight. I hate to call this a must win, but it sort of is.

Where's the interview at? And about Teemu, they've been chirping after their first game win. Let them, as I said earlier, let it fuel the boys. If Bruce wants to chirp and Teemu wants to chirp, let em chirp. It takes 4 wins before you get rid of us though, so I would be very wise before opening your mouths after a single victory. It's usually not a good idea after a win to add chirps at the same time, especially in the playoffs. You already know the other team is going to try and redeem themselves for their previous loss, and then you chirp and fuel the fire some more. Come on swinging tonight boys!! Shut em up early and get that doubt planted. BIG HITS, BIG GAME, LETS CELLY ALL NIGHT BOYS.
