#2308477 Article about Z being the C

Posted by evilzyme on 21 June 2012 - 12:57 PM

Interesting article. I don't see Fil as a potential "next" captain but then again I am not in the locker room every day.

Lidstrom stated in his presser that the 3 guys he would personally give the C to would be Zett, Filp, or Kronner. I was pretty shocked when he said Filp but if Lidstrom said that he would have his vote, he probably has a nice locker room presence.

#2307665 Power Play

Posted by evilzyme on 16 June 2012 - 09:06 PM

With Lids gone we'll probably rely less on point play.

I dont think so because we dont have the size to work it down low and into the dirty areas, especially on the
power play when teams are trying to box it out and force it on the perimeter.

#2305577 Wings interested in Garrison

Posted by evilzyme on 06 June 2012 - 10:09 AM

Here is a source on that Garrison to Vancouver rumor Link

I think he's a great defenceman but I think given the circumstances this off season he'll end up being over-paid by someone.

There is a lot of concern about a bidding war for Suter/Parise but the real bidding wars start when they put pen to paper. Once they are signed everyone who missed out starts spending like drunken sailor trying to sign their #2 and 3 options.

One thing i have against this is that suter doesnt have a long list. He wants to live close to home and he isnt a city boy. He wants space. You cant have a bidding war thats asinine with a small list. Secondly, Parise wants a contender and he wants a cup. I know hes there right now but it doesnt seem likely they will dig themselves out of it. Which brings up the next point, how many real contenders are there every year that ha e the cap space to unload on him? I think people expect this giant bidding war but personally i see it going down quite smoothly. Both players want a home that will contend, one wants to be close to home. There isnt a laundry list of teams that can stand in that bidding war.

#2300947 Would you?

Did you just call Erik Karlsson the real deal? He can throw up numbers as a defensemen, but he can't play defense worth a s***. Luckily, the sens gave him the oms domas and he's allowed to pinch and flow where he wants.

Seriously though, does someone care to explain what was so bad about my original post? -_-

#2300761 2012 World Ice Hockey Championships

Posted by evilzyme on 11 May 2012 - 07:02 PM

Sweden was playing really good in 1st but in 2nd Russians got under their skin and Swedes lost it totally. game was lost basically when it got tied 3-3, but I didn't expect such blowout.

Franzen needs to calm down. Yemelin really got the best of him. same goes for Landeskog who took even dumber penalty.

Fasth and Enroth are perfectly fine if the team in front of them stays focused. it was for the first 30 minutes.

PS. Eriksson still rocks. and Malkin is, skills aside, f* goon.

I'm sorry but Yemelin dove like it was frickin Olympic diving. They didn't deserve either penalty that tied the game at 3-3. I would most likely get frustrated if they were calling obvious diving calls like that. The game was an absolute gongshow.

#2300662 Report: Jagr to test free agent market

Posted by evilzyme on 11 May 2012 - 08:47 AM

What's just insane to me is that not even that long ago he said how much he absolutely adored Philly and would never regret coming to them. He stated on his blog that the ice time he was receiving was absolutely nothing to him and he didn't mind. Now? Now, he's pissed and wants to find an organization that will feed him the minutes he wants. Okay man... you're about bat s*** crazy Jagr. So hypocritical. "I mean, I don't get the big deal about Sidney Crosby" continues to talk about Crosby for the next 20 pages. Dude's a hot mess.

#2300643 The Astuteness of Paul Holmgren.

Posted by evilzyme on 11 May 2012 - 07:40 AM

Well, as much as Bryz just straight up sucked it in the first round with MAF, he did keep them in games in the second round. Philly needs to realize they have some giant holes in their defense and they can't expect their tendy to always be there to save your ass. Now, I understand he has a beautiful contract and is paid to be that guy, but history says he will never be that guy. I'm not even sure why and how Philly thought Bryz was going to be an all-star goalie by just coming to Philly. Holmgren is absolutely right though, he should focus on play more than just making retarded comments. The media is half to blame though, they've been down his throat trying to get the funny quotes from him. The guy is barely more advanced than Pasha when talking to the American media.

**edit** someone care to explain how the hell this got neg'ed rofl

#2300596 Bettman wants to tout the "Original 12" now, haha

This would be the biggest slap in the face to the O6 teams.... I can't even equate words right now....

#2300499 #7 Washington Capitals vs. #1 New York Rangers

Posted by evilzyme on 10 May 2012 - 09:44 AM

it was kinda funny first time, but I seriously think league will suspend the guy for this some day. they put a lot of effort to promote the game and gain media momentum and Tortorella is ruining it all.

Well if the media didn't keep trying to get answers out of Torts that they want, so they can spin it on him, he would probably respect them back. Listen, the media tries to DESTROY and skew the words of Torts, they set him up for failure. They ask rhetorical stupid questions, so he answers with smart ass answers. I would be the same way if they kept doing it OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER, And.... over. Hey John, why did you call that icing? Oh, i'm not sure, maybe because my guys were frickin tired and I didn't want to get destroyed in my zone. OH? So thats how you coach. Come on man, don't act like Torts is the bad guy all the time. You would eventually get fed up with it too.

#2300192 Just to change it up a bit...

Posted by evilzyme on 08 May 2012 - 08:13 PM

I don't even think you can predict a coach situation. Babcock has a nice contract to live out, inwhich he says he hopes to continue with Detroit. He also states that hopefully he won't be coaching 10 years from now, or atleast he won't be in Detroit. Back to the topic though, predicting a firing or contract expiration of a coach, ontop of who would be available is just a silly question to ask in my book. I love your motivation, but I think you may want to slow down on all these threads :yowza:

#2300183 Suter most likely out of Nashville

Posted by evilzyme on 08 May 2012 - 07:40 PM

I never said Hudler over parise. I said Hudler AND Jones over Parise. Would have 2 players, more goals and more grit. Now before others read into things that have not been said, let me clear a couple of things up. There is a difference between great and good. Or stars and solid. parise is a good solid player. But is parise a top 15 forward in the NHL player? No. But, to his credit, he is about to get paid like one. He also slows down dramaticly in the PO's. In 37 career PO games, he has 13 goals. About 1 g per 3 games. In the regular season he is closer to 1 per 2 games. In the end, it the playoffs that matter. He is just like most of our forwards in the fact he is not big enough to maintain his productivity in the PO's. When the games get tighter, tougher and more physical-IE playoff games, smaller players see their production drop further-unless then have other big wingers to create space. We as an organization have plenty of small forwards. We have very few big forwards, and the ones we do are old. Doing more of the same and expecting different results is foolish.

DUDE WHAT?! Have you watched these playoffs? Have you seen Zach Parise? The guy is on fire, he is all over the ice, he is working his ass off. Stop using previous stats, jesus christ, welcome to the future, the past doesn't matter. The Mule destroyed the playoffs previously, guess where he was the past two seasons? Oh. My. Bad. What boils down is playoff performance, and Zach Parise can bring that also. He's a GREAT player, he isn't horrible defensively, if anything hes pretty damn awesome at the two way game. I just don't know if we're watching the same Zach Parise, captain of the New Jersey Devils.

#2300111 Chances of landing Parise?

Posted by evilzyme on 08 May 2012 - 02:18 PM

I said 30%.  With NJ's situation, its a good bet that he'll leave the Devils, however there will be a lot of teams interested in him and someone (it only takes one) will give him a stupid offer like $9 mil a year for 7 years and he'll be out of our hands.  Holland won't overpay.  The only way he comes to Detroit is if he doesn't care about getting the most money he can and he recognizes that his style of play really makes him a great fit for our team.

Having said that, I had a dream I got a Parise Winter Classic jersey for Christmas.  It was a #90 on the back.  So let's hope it was more than a dream.  :D

I respect that your dream respects retired numbers.
