#2614206 Free agents this off season

Posted by DickieDunn on 13 June 2015 - 12:43 AM

He's been relatively healthy last few seasons but he's had some injury concerns in the past which are a concern , and he's not the best defensively ... I mean I wouldn't be pissed off since he's not costing us any assets but I'd be more comfortable with a 3 year term max

Ya he's not the biggest guy and he's been playing with a good offensive team in Anaheim and still new to the league , wouldn't be against landing him

But nyquist has the potential to get 25-40 goals so I'm probably biased but I'd think we could land someone better especially if we added another piece

I wouldn't do it since there in the east but I'm sure Pittsburgh would want nyquist to play with Crosby in a heartbeat

20 to 40 is a huge range.

I'm not sold on either Tatar or Nyquist being more than 60 point guys. Sure, they're valuable, but not guys you can't part with.

#2517674 Was Legwand worth it?

Well, I think the "He is Zetterberg 2.0" statement - if people are actually making it - is actually fair enough in the larger context of this debate. The point being, here's a guy who projects as another Zetterberg. And we traded him. For a few games of service from David Legwand. If another GM had pulled that trigger, my guess is everyone here would be laughing at him.

Moving your top prospect is a big deal, especially when it's obviously a last-minute panic move. How many times did Holland say we wouldn't be sacrificing key pieces of our future for short-term payoff?

It stinks. We basically have to re-sign Legwand.

You answered your own question. He wasn't a key piece of our future and had no future here

#2428889 So.. what are our expectations for this roster?

Posted by Euro_Twins on 08 July 2013 - 09:19 PM

On paper I could agree. But not on ice.

Pitts nyr Boston mtl Washington. I believe are the tops 5 then were in the next group that can barely make it or barely miss. Which includes us, Ottawa, Columbus, tor, islanders philly. Then two teams I'm not sure of are Tampa and njd.

This is if if we have some key injuries which I fully expect. Also monster being injury prone is key....Howard can't start 82 games and mrazek isn't ready.

I agree with Mrazek not being ready, but you have no proof that monster will be injured all year, or at all for that matter, most injuries this year was for a lack of half a season with no time for training camps, and a week long pre-season. Washington is garbage when Ovie isn't playing full tilt, which aside from 24 games last season he hasn't played that way in several years, so they are like a 6th seed maybe, they only had home ice cause they had the worst division in hockey. I do not truly believe NYR will be better with Vigneault than they were with Torts. Montreal is hit or miss really, Boston has fallen apart this off season, so lets see how they bounce back after losing key pieces of their team, and Pittsburgh is just a joke, they are good regular season, but come playoffs they are the laughing stock of the nhl. I honestly don't think there are 3 teams truly better than us, assuming half our team doesn't get injured (we can't possibly have that much bad luck 4 straight years) then I firmly believe we will start playoffs with home ice, and make a deep playoff run. With Alfie, and weiss joining Datsyuk, Z, Franzen, Nyquist and Tatar, and Helmer, we are in for a treat this year, cause we aren't trying to make playoffs this year, we are trying to win it all.
