PROBIE4PREZ 58 Report post Posted October 17, 2008 the first song they played was god awful followed by songs that might have been good but are ruined by a over the hill singer the highlight was seeing the one armed drummer the lowlight was seeing the lead singer and then him opening his mouth only to blurt out lyrics that could be mimicked by a drunk at a karoke club
esteef 2,679 Report post Posted October 17, 2008 The mix on TV was HORRIBLE. Vivian Campbell was all the way up on guitar, and the other guy (Phil Collen) was OFF. Solo...one would think the engineer would say, hey, there is supposed to be guitar here....turn that one up. Who should we have gotten? KID ROCK? (He's a hack and I am so tired of him being the default Detroit choice for any music) Def Leppard, horrible choice, they had a new album to flog. Maybe Nickleback? Why not? Not that I like them, but they are Canadian and big hockey fans. They do a lot of things for CBC. Amen brother, Kid Rock sucks. He rips off s*** from other artists (oh excuse me, "samples") and his lyrics are f***in' junior high bulls***. Rock 'n' Roll Jesus? Gimmie a f***in' break! And I agree with whoever said Def Leppard sucked after Pyromania (High 'N 'Dry was good too!) wurd, esteef

Usually you dont get to hear Vivs guitar that clearly, so it was nice to be able to pick out his parts. I still think this whole thing is ridiculous (ly) awesome. I understand the prestige of the Stanley Cup, but I dont understand why fans are getting upset about it. The players have a right to be upset about it, and certainly should if he did it on purpose, but as fans, I dont see what the big deal is. Its a trophy. More important than the trophy is the journey the team took to win the trophy. He turned the Cup upside down, not the team. And say what you will, I think Def Leppard were good up until Retro, but then again I am a sucker for melody. I enjoy a nice vocal line just as much as a crazy guitar riff. You're new here, aren't you? I won't go into what the Cup means to the players and the respect that fans show for the Cup, how seriously it is taken, etc. Joe Elliot did what he did ON PURPOSE to disrepect the Cup (and by connection the NHL and its fans). auxlepli 17 Report post Posted October 17, 2008 I agree an American or Canadian band should've been invited. Who knows may the League tried, but couldn't get anybody else. Anyway if Eliott did it on purpose, he's an ass. If not who cares. I mean he didn't s*** in the Cup like Draper's kid did. Oh and he didn't drop it like Chelios did. taxijim 11 Report post Posted October 17, 2008 I saw Leppard this Aug. & they really did rock the house. That wasn't a very spirited effort on banner nite & the mix was bad.....they also sucked on Dancing With the Stars....guess they should stick to arena gigs. I think they shuolda got Rev Theory to sing "Hell Yeah"......remember this spring at the Joe when the Wings came on with Hell Yeah blasting, the spotlites swirling,& Fleury falling.....what a way to set the tempo for the game! I won't go into what the Cup means to the players and the respect that fans show for the Cup, how seriously it is taken, etc. Joe Elliot did what he did ON PURPOSE to disrepect the Cup (and by connection the NHL and its fans). FARK DEF LEPPARD If your suggesting that I don't understand the prestige of the Stanley Cup, your mistaken. I recognize its importance, and what it means to the players, and fans. Yet I also recognize that a lot worse has happened to the stanley cup and no one has blinked an eye. Instead of questioning my understanding, why dont you question the NHL's who LET Joe Elliot lift the trophy over his head having never probably seen a professional hockey game. What I dont understand is how one automatically assumes he did it to disrespect the NHL. Whos telling whether or not HE knew how sacred it was? Maybe he thought it would be a joke, nothing more. If you are seriously pissed off about this as a fan, then I think you have your priorities out of order. I am a die hard Wings fan, have been since I was six years old. Been getting center ice for 5 years now just to watch the Wings and watched all but two games of the 90 something they played last season. I know what the cup means. I find this funny. Not necessarily what happened, but the reaction to it. Like I said, I can understand the players anger, to an extent, but it was upside down for about a second before Quincey fixed it, and as far as I have heard, everything is a-ok with it now. Worse has happened to it, as I have said. Most notably Pronger lifting the cup over his head
Lancz 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2008 I think kid rock woulda been a helluva lot better than def leppard. Why not pick someone who's an actual wings fan. Maybe he could have talked skynyrd into doing it with him 8).
