k3sparks 1 Report post Posted March 28, 2007 Hey i found this on espn.com where they listed all the top teams as far as fan satisfaction. the tigers pistons and red wings are all listed in the top 18... all the others in front of us are cities where they really only have one sports team... (i.e. san antonio spurs, nashville, indianapolis.) With such a good rating do you guys rank Detroit as one of the best sport cities in america? i believe so, just look at it now where there is so much excitement for the tigers and the wings and pistons are looking good heading into the playoffs, both with title hopes and an actually chance at winning it all.... Hope it was a good first post, Keith http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/franchiseRanks
Hockey13Playa 240 Report post Posted March 28, 2007 Detroit is up there, I agree with us being a good city, with good fans. We just need to work on the Detroit Lions, and they all of our teams would be good. I don't see that happening anytime soon though
k3sparks 1 Report post Posted March 28, 2007 yeah funny enough if you look at the bottom of the list, detroit lions are last at 122nd place
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted March 28, 2007 (edited) I'm not surprised that Buffalo or Nashville are ahead of the Wings in this poll. Their teams have taken off this season, while the Wings have been pleasing fans for the past 15 years. Much easier to be "pleased" with Nashville/Buffalo. Welcome to the boards. stevie for president 42 Report post Posted March 28, 2007 It helps when you can say the Pistons are far and away favorites to win the eastern conference, the Red Wings could win another stanley this year with no shock to anyone, and the Tigers are probably world series favorites, and just making the playoffs in baseball is an acheivement. But you also can't say we are satisfied because our teams win, because the lions sell out every game. and even if we expanded this, i know u of m football sells more tickets than any other football team, msu vs. u of m set an attendance record for a hockey game. You can't deny detroit fans are great fans, but you have to admit we have been blessed with exciting teams.
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted March 28, 2007 (edited) Detroit has to be among the best, if not the best sports city in the country. The Red Wings have sold out every home game since December of 1995, which is a tribute to the team, but also to the passionate fans. The Pistons have sold out around 150 straight games and counting, the Tigers are extremely popular for good reason again, and people go to Lions games just because it is the NFL. It's amazing that some cities can't sell out an arena for one team, but Detroit does it all winter at the Joe and Palace. As much crap as Detroit gets as a city, no one can deny we have terrific fans. Edited March 28, 2007 by GoWings1905

HuntsVegas Baby 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2007 (edited) With the Vipers (AF2), Havoc (Southern Hockey League) and the Stars (AA Baseball) my vote is Huntsvegas, AL!!!! Of course I am kidding, mid size city life sucks for the die hard sports fan. However the funny thing is...look at the Ownership Catagory on the Lions....how come everyone in the world knows the Lions have head office problems.....except for Millan and the Fords?????? NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted March 28, 2007 The Pistons do not count. They are not in Detroit ~ Lambeau Field is technically in Ashwaubenon, but they're still considered the Green Bay Packers.

HomeNugget 2 Report post Posted March 28, 2007 Hrmmm, Wings are third in Detroit. I would've expected them to be first. it was fan satisfaction rankings. believe it or not too many people aren't satisfied with the red wings.
Guest LivingtheDream Report post Posted March 28, 2007 Having been exposed to fans in New York (elitist snobs) and Philadelphia (rude base pigs for the most part) Detroiters have no idea how goo they have it or how good they are as fans!
Barrie 900 Report post Posted March 29, 2007 Hrmmm, Wings are third in Detroit. I would've expected them to be first. Looking at it, I think the rankings are correct. The Wings lose points due to the lack of promos at the arena and ticket prices.
chelios4eva 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2007 it was fan satisfaction rankings. believe it or not too many people aren't satisfied with the red wings. GASP!!!, I CAN NEVER IMAGINE ANYBODY (Especially people on this wings board), to not be satisfied with the wings.

auxlepli 17 Report post Posted March 29, 2007 I'd rather have the team I support win championships than have promotional give-aways. As far as being satisfied ... I'm not satisfied unless my team wins the Cup. That said, I'm satisfied with the Wings run in the last 10 years. No other team has won the Cup more in the same time frame. The Wings also have the longest current streak of making it to the post-season of any of the 122 teams.

Usually the free stuff they give you at games are cheap, that's why they are free. The Tigers in the 1980's and 1990's always gave away free stuff. I didn't save anything I got free at Tigers Stadium. I too would rather have a winning team than promos, and I'm also satisfied with our run since 1991-92 season as well. I can go back as the mid-1980's when we made our first of two Conference Finals trips against Edmonton, that's where it all started. I still want to see more Championships, but if the Wings don't win one for a while, I really can't complain.

Although I do still have a little wooden baseball bat I got at Tiger Stadium when I saw the Tigers play the Indians there. God, that was a good game......... But on the topic of this thread..... I was happy to see three of Detroit's four teams near the top of the list. Not surprised about the Lions! I think it is also neat that the Red Wings' two top scores were Ownership and Championship titles. I wasn't surprised by wither of those.
