If you think Jarnkrok and Sheahan are guaranteed top 6 centres then okay, but other than that we are thin. and i doubt sheahan becomes a top 6 centre. we have good wings in nyquist, tatar, jurco that will all pan out likely. lets get a top talent at centre or go for forsberg. franzen can help this team for maybe 3 more years, these kids could be huge for 10+ years.

Imagine moving Z to dats wing and putting Fil on the wing permanently! We have youth at wing in the pipe that is elite. but not at centre. when z and dats go we are screwed at this point. Grigs is 6 3" malkin type with one of the highest ceilings in the draft. DO IT

The thing is, if we trade fil for a winger, we need to find another future top 2 centre to replace him (maybe Jarnkrok). It would make sense to replace Franzen (winger) with Ryan (winger) and then we add to make it even. Would cost a lot more than franzen though.

The only reason I see Staal wanting Detroit would be that Z and Dats are almost 10 years older and he would allow them to play together again and he would be guaranteed the future in Detroit unlike Pens who have 2 young unbelievable centres in Crosby and Malkin. Staal is the best fit I think of the 3 but also the youngest. Lowest price tag would be ryan then staal (because ufa in 1 year) then nash would be highest i bet. I'd do Franzen, Abby, Jurco, 2nd for Staal at the draft. Abby can be replaced. Franzen is a sniper they want, but his age is an issue so they would want a sexy prospect like Jurco. Then throw in the 2nd rounder.

Ya I agree that Ericsson is better than Quincey. But since Quincey is un-signed and an RFA Anaheim would still have to negotiate a contract that could be higher than they are willing to pay. The thing that makes Ericsson or White attractive is that they have a set cap that has no negotiation, I'm pretty sure Ericsson has a modified NTC though. Stuart UFA rights for Schultz UFA rights = Fair Brookbank can't even be involved at this point. Bobby Ryan is younger, more potential, and better than Franzen, Kindl and a 7th. This trade makes Anaheim worse in a bad way. Kindl is a fringe nhl player and hudler is undersized (and they still have to sign him themselves). I mean there is enough quantity but the quality coming back to anaheim will prevent this trade from happening. Just so I'm not just turning your deal down, I will present a counter offer. People around here far too often just say no to people and don't offer opinion. Franzen, White/Ericsson, 2nd Round Pick for Ryan Stuart (UFA rights) for Schultz (UFA rights) I think that might work. Its a lot to give up, but Ryan is a young talent and an offensive upgrade on everyone not named Dats or Z in our top 6.

We had already established that as you said. I was discussing what type of contract would be awarded. I was saying 3 year to give length to schultz and the security with the first year being 2 way. Green got unlucky with injuries. The one was a concussion (not his fault) z could get one too if he hot hit hard enough in the head. Its not like cleary and his knees. Regardless the points drop was because of those freak injuries. He will return to form likely.
