I believe that with reports that Holland has had talks with Doans agent and that we have heard very little about the Wings and Semin, Doan is what the wings are really going after for a back up to parise. Lets face it, Doan is the kind of player the Wings go for. Experienced, wants to win at all costs, plays all areas of the ice and has leadership and a great attitude. He may not score as much as Semin but he would give the wings so much more. I hope news breaks tomorrow about Doan being a wing.

I'm really confused why Semin is waiting to sign somewhere. I thought he would have signed the day of the parise/suter signings or at least by the next day. If the wings had any interest in him he would already have a sweater stitched with his name on it. its not happening unless we told his agent we want to see what happens with doan before signing semin, idk

well he has backed up for a couple years so its not quite like schultz where he hasnt played a game but I agree, he has never had the reigns in Vancouver and I'm sure he will be the new scapegoat when they get knocked out of the playoffs again this year.

Schultz will go to Edmonton and even with all that young talent they still wont make the playoffs this year.

I like the fact that Holland at least put an effort in getting Schultz and made his interests public. At least it shows he isnt in his office playing Solitaire. I guess i'm a little more optimistic for his commitment to signing UFA's this year.

This is so weird that we have pulled out of the sweepstakes. Especially when many articles are reporting Holland offered him a starting position next year. Schultz's agent stated earlier that he was going to start meeting with teams this weekend. I just don't see him already refusing to play for the wings before hearing Hollands pitch. I don't feel like this is the end quite yet.

I wish I knew where Ted was getting this information. Oh well I think it will be better in the short term for the Wings to give minutes to a proven defenseman. I think Smith is going to be the better Badger at the end of the day.
