Shane Doan to test free agency

Actually Blue, I like this lineup except I would still try for a healthier back-up....let's give Montoya a try! Although I heard thru the twitter-vine that Holland likes Monster or Clemmenson as back-up...

Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz

yes, if Schultz chooses Detroit, he will be given a top 6 spot....it will be his to lose, despite what some users think. Holland has to negotiate tough and be shrewd enough to get what he feels he needs....and sell Detroit in the best way he knows how... Smith and Schultz will be tremendous together!

So What's Up With Abby & Quincey?

It's nice to see Holland qualified Quincey and is now letting him stew over it while he tends to more pressing issues....Schultz and Suter.

D Wideman traded to CGY, signs 5-yr contract

Honestly, right now Holland needs to throw the wallet at Suter.....10 years $90M...Suter is a MUST! It's our glaring need and Holland will need to overpay him to secure his services for the rest of his career!

Justin's short list of 5 or 6 teams is supposed to come out this afternoon!

D Wideman traded to CGY, signs 5-yr contract

...also, Calgary has 5 forwards to sign and have 7 D already signed..they have $12M in cap space. It was rumored that they were on Schultz's short list, does signing Wideman eliminate them? They have no spot for him to play...

D Wideman traded to CGY, signs 5-yr contract

Not that I am mad Holland didn't make this deal...but I sure hope Holland has his two defensemen on Sunday because the plan B's are running slim... That being said, Suter/Schultz me please!

Schultz to.Detroit... Dream until the dream is over!

http://www.kuklaskorner.com/index.php/tmr/comments/red_wings_late_evening_news_on_chelios_schultz_and_parise/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Here some updates on Schultz, etc.... Interesting that Schultz's head coach in Wisconsin....Mike Eaves, none other than Patrick Eaves dad...Seems like there is another connection going for us! I don't think that will matter, but it is kinda cool!

Dream until the Dream ends....that's all we can do!

    Parise Likely Out. Next Options

Gee if he wants $10M is Pitt still the favorites with only $14M in Cap space? I wonder what Suter is looking for...I think even $10M is much for him, unless it's a front loaded lifetime contract...with a $7M cap hit...

    Parise Likely Out. Next Options

Being realistic, if $10M is indeed what he seeks, then I like Semin and Doan for less combined! Suter always been #1 priority anyhow...I would love Parise, but can live without him....

Steve Ott - anyone interested in getting him?

Who would you trade for Brendan Morrow and Steve Ott in a package?

Shane Doan to test free agency

I can dream, but realistically, I see maybe two or three UFA's coming here. Suter being TOP TIP TOP priority followed by offense. Now if somehow, Holland pulled Parise and Doan out of his hat, then yikes! The difference is, this year, Holland has the money...all we need is for that first UFA to fall into place and as long as Holland has the money left, the other just may follow! With every quality UFA that sings here, other's take notice and would love to join them for a run at it! That was part of the draw before, we had Stevie, Shanny, Fedorov, Lidstrom, Chelios...other players wanted to play with those guys and came here and usually for less than market value...all it takes is Suter to sign and then others will take notice. You need that one UFA to attract the others....just like Pudge did for the Tigers...and it hasn't stopped since... Let's Go Kenny! Let's Go Wings! Suter/Parise/Doan/Schultz! Why Not! Dream until the dream is over!

Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz

http://spectorshockey.net/blog/nhl-evening-rumor-roundup-june-26-2012/ Didn't know where else to put this..the general UFA signing thread is locked....but since it refers Justin Schultz a bit, I will put it here!

Shane Doan to test free agency

Ya, a good indicator, eh? No Parise? No Problem....Semin and Doan will fill the order... How about Doan and Moen? That would be an anouncer's nightmare....'Doan from Moen back to Moen to Doan, Doan Scores!"

Someone is coming here, its not like everyone hates Detroit....Parise, Semin, Doan, Moen, Suter, Schultz, etc....someone new will be wearing the Winged Wheel this season....Ya, Brunner already counted!

Steve Ott - anyone interested in getting him?

Yes, for sure...Ott would be a great piece here...price I don't know, what is Dallas looking for or in need of?

Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz

I typed Justin Schultz in Google and the first four suggestions that come up: Justin Schultz hockeydb Justin Schultz hockey Justin Schultz Red Wings Justin Schultz Wisconsin ....kizmit? I hope so!

Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz

You just said right there what I have been saying all along! It's his spot to lose...so since you feel the same way, we could have avoided the bickering and useless typing... Holland will guarantee the spot, Babcock will start him and when or if he fails, someone else comes in...that I agree with....the spot is Schultz's until he loses it....if he signs here, and God I hope he does!

    Shanahan snubbed from HoF induction

Funny thing is, I really don't know why he left to begin with....something about the old guys and new guys...hell he played 3 more seasons, he could have stayed and that would not have changed to outcome of 2008 and could very well have changed 2009. He could have had 4 Cups if not a 5th...I really don't know why he left... Hmmm.....number retired? I would say not, because then you are opening up others who are borderline...If you retire #14, then you have to retire #91, #30, #8 maybe....it's just opens a big can of worms and then we will be just like the Avalanche... I say #5, then #13 for sure...verdict is still out on #40...

Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz

Yes, he will be given icetime. Holland has said it, Babcock will give it and continue to give it until he loses it. He will not have to beat Kindl/Quincey for the spot, if he signs here, it will be his to lose. Snotty nose or not, if the organization guarantees him ice time, he will get it, until he f***s up enough to lose it....it may or may not happen, but he will have the spot, no matter what happens to Kindl/Quincey... It's written in black and white, it doesn't matter who YOU think deserves the spot, you are not Holland making promises....
  23. LeftWinger

Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz

Yes, exactly....He has had plenty of opportunity to crack this lineup...Ericsson only spent 3 seasons in GRR before making the lineup and Kindl wasaslo there for 3 FULL, PLUS played for Kitchner 3 seasons prior to that, he was more than ready to come to the NHL before Big E, but for some reason he couldn't crack the lineup....wonder why....
  24. LeftWinger

Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz

That is even better...I just would like to have it done before he turns 35 to avoid that issue if he cannot fulfill the contract...
  25. LeftWinger

Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz

Uh....Kindl played in 55 games last season and 48 games the prior season. Last year was not his first full season in the NHL, so yes, I do know what I am talking about... PLUS he played THREE full seasons and some change in GR where he was less than stellar amassing a nice -58 in +/- and a whole 89 points... Listen, I am not saying get rid of him, I am getting rid of Quincey and keeping Kindl, BUT Kindl will not make the top 6 if Holland gets both Suter/Schultz. If Holland really wants Schultz here, he has to promise him playing time, if Kindl is bumped because of it, then oh well that's the business. If for some reason Schultz farts, and he might, then he'll be put up in the box, not coddled. Then if Schultz complains and *******, trade him. Bottom line is Holland is going to give Schultz that #5/#6 spot and it will be his to lose...Kindl and Smith will rotate the #6/#7....But if Quincey signs then Kindl is out...
