Chris Minard follows Doug Janik to the German DEL and signs for Kölner Haie.

Jamie Johnson signs for KHL side Dinamo Riga.

pity he cant play in GR next season. Hes coming over for the main camp, so you never know!

we know all the top guys that we would like to see on the team but sometimes Kenny brings in guys that arent household names or guys that have dropped off their projected potential. You know the reclaim type of player. guys that could fill a role we need that maybe they are not being used for on their current team. any suggestions? not suggesting that my choice isnt doing a job for his current team but a player i think could do a job for us on the top 6 is Colin Wilson of the Preds. Im not sure if he is a UFA or RFA at seasons end thou.
-
with the amount of forwards we have signed (17 with Abby) and possably 18 if we sign another UFA. Kenny must be stocking up for a trade, its the only thing that makes sense of having all these fwds. I think only Andersson & Brunner can be sent down safely. So that leaves us with 15/16, now which team has a log jam on D and short of forward talent? Buffalo, Philadelphia and Tampa Bay all have 9 D signed. Just a thought as to which teams may be looking at trading a D. Not sure who would be in need of help up front of these 3 teams, maybe the Sabres woukld be the lightest up front. Is Cam Barker an UFA or RFA? he could be a reclaim project on the D. Former 3rd overall pick who has struggled since leaving the Blackhawks, Renney's old team as well. While he's there pick up the lad Alex Plante, huge young D, would complement Smith down the line.
-
All 3 have 9 D signed, do you want names?
-
Semin and Nash with a cheap shutdown vet D like Jurcina would do. would lose some pieces for Nash,(Cleary,Miller,Emmerton and a 1st & 4th round pick) but that would help the cap. it is possable (unlikely) thou. Semin Datsyuk Nash Samuelsson Zetterberg Franzen Nyquist Filppula Brunner Bertuzzi Helm Tootoo Eaves Mursak Kronwall Ericsson White Smith Jurcina Quincey Kindl Howard Gustavsson. now that looks like a competative roster to me.

Where do we go from here? Let's try a youth movement

i watched nearly all of the WC this year and my take on it is this; Tatar was great for the Slovaks on their 3/4 lines. he ave just under 14 mins a game and had 2+3 in 10 games AND a silver medal. deserves a roster spot in my opinion. Brunner ave just under 19 mins a game for the Swiss and was a point a game guy over the 7 games. Was great against the Canadiens in his countrys 2-3 loss where he was a constant threat and had a 1+1 game. Has already been given the #96 so make what yoou will of that. Great pick up by Wings Semin was an absolute beast when he got there and played on Pasha's wing. 5 points in the 3 games he played and just over 17mins ice per game. I would love to see him alongside Pav, but i would also like the Wings try and get either Nikulin on D or Popov Fwd from the Russia side. -
anyone else notice that Stevie Y nabbed him on UFA day? I got a feeling that Kenny missed the boat with this kid, so like Vladdy in his play.
-
i was just wondering if the wings are keeping an eye on this lad. He has started the year off well with 5+8 in 18 games so far and sits 10th overall amongst defencemen in the QMJHL. Did any one on here get to see him in camp? he looks like he has good size at 6'2" and 203lb and still just 18.

Opinions if Wings have to settle for 'Plan B': Semin and Carle
Andy Pred 48 replied to a topic in General
we missed out on both guys,so life goes on. I really think that Smith can be as good as Suter in a year or two. I just wish we had given him time last year with Nic so he could have learned off the best. I think that we have Weber next year, just got to get thru this year and give the youngsters some ice to benefit us long term. It may be hard going but i think we have enough to make the playoffs if we can get at least another 2 senior players on board then im sure we will. maybe Pasha gets on the phone and gets some of his countrymen over here who havent played here before, you know so other teams dont know how they play. Ilya Nikulin,Alexander Popov and Alexei Tereshenko would do for me!!- 93 replies

i really hope we can get 2 or 3 UFA's in and ive a funny feeling that we have a trade lined up as well. if i hear sunday night, 'we like our team and the price was too high, its off to the Griffins for me!! no i honestly feel we are going to see the biggest roster movements we have seen in several years.

some UFA/RFA's born in the state. 3 new guys coming in, mark my words! Not who'd you have thought thou..............but will do a job until Kenny gets Shea next season
-
hearing rumours this side of the pond that Georges Laraque is contemplating trying to make it back to the NHL. He's nearly 36, maybe a bridge to far. Didnt really do much in his last 2 season's with the Habs and therfore the comeback may be harder to do as there may be not much interest in taking him on.
-
Kenny has already stated that Kyle was got for this scenario. Just gotta get someone in to try and fill a little of the void left by Nic.
-
Think Carolina nabbed him.

cant understand all the arguing, no one will really know unless he is thrown in and see what happens. A young kid played only 2 full seasons in the Swedish top league not putting up big numbers and was then thrown into the NHL at only 21yrs, the result is history!!! Anyway, id like the Wings to take a look at another FA from the NCAA, Aaron Schmit big winger with Ferris State.

i was just thinking about wether the Wings might try an Ericsson on this kid. he is huge and still growing, but we seem to have plenty of more talented D coming thru than Richard. My theory is to maybe convert him to forward and have that hulking winger we cry out for. 6'4" 227lb and only 18, this kid could end up 6'5" and 240lb imagine that coming down the boards at you!! bit like what they did with E only the reverse.
-
the only way the Wings take MARKOV off then HABS hands is if Alexei Emelin is part of the deal.
-
Give Smith he C, he's older than Stevie was when he was given the C................just a tought outside the box
-
like their going to say, "that negotiations arent going well and we feel that he'll be heading off elsewhere" !

A slick offensive forward who can shoot as well as pass the puck. Has great wheels and hands. Plays a gritty game. that is latest scouting report on Brunner,26yr 5'11" 187lb. Parise is 27yr 5'11" and 194lb so i dont see a big diff in size. It seems its the european aspect that puts some fans off. Parise is proven NHL i grant you but i watched most of the WC games involving the Swiss side and Brunner looked good. He had 1+1 and was a +1 in the 2-3 loss to Canada, where he was up against Phaneuf,Keith,Bouwmeester,Methot,Schenn and Quincey who are all over 6' and 200lb+ and he handled himself well. and if memory serves me well are all physical players. If kenny can get him on board for the min $ then i dont think he will be a huge risk.
