timothy1997 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 Well thanks Lions, you made me lose a lot of sleep Here’s my tale. It was 4:00 am and I turned on the game. I had never seen a game of NFL in my life. I’ve never really understood the sport so I’ve always given it an unfair stick but as Detroit were on I thought I would give it a go. I can’t understand some of the aspects of the game, but I am willing to learn. This is my perception of the game, keeping in mind that I didn’t watch it all and I had pretty much no idea what was going on! From what I saw, I thought the Lions defense was quite good. They blocked many attempts by the opposition. However when it came their turn on offence, they continuously stuffed it up. I thought the much maligned Joey Harrington was reasonably solid, he made some excellent passes. However the main problem was that there was never anyone for him to pass it to. The offence looked stagnant. Another major problem was their inability to keep possession, they turned it over far too often. So there we have it, the first game of NFL I have ever seen. wow!! you saw the game better than mooch did. YOU WANT TO COACH THE LIONS????
dallas27 7 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 (edited) In addition of Mooch getting fired they should also get rid of everyone on offense except for KJ, and Williams X2. *edit* And Sledge Edited November 25, 2005 by dallas27
timothy1997 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 According to the freep, Mariucci is still the coach. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article...ORTS19/51125005
Heaton 1 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 Wait, Garcia is better than Joey?
dallas27 7 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 (edited) Yeah, but Garcia has been doing it for A LOT longer. The last two years that may be so but please don't be so obtuse to not recognize the rest of his career. He has a 86.7 qb career passer rating and even sucking this year he has a 74 qb passer rating. His best for one season is 97.8 something of which Joey will most likely never accomplish. And it's only a 3 year difference between the two experience wise. Take Garcia's worst 4 seasons and it's still better than Joey's. By a good margin... Numbers don't lie. They aren't going to win and no quarterback is going to look good when they don't have KJ and they stick to the same play calls Mooch was calling... Heaton 1 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 (edited) Are you watching the game? Garcia can't even throw a check down pass. And by the way, f**k Joey, this isn't about him, he sucks. I'm talking about Jeff Garcia who SHOULDN'T even be playing IT MAKES NO SENSE FOR HIM TO BE IN THERE. Edited December 4, 2005 by Heaton
dallas27 7 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 Are you that stupid? Wait, Garcia is better than Joey? YOU made it about Joey and Garcia. The evidence is right there. The evidence is also in the numbers I posted that Garcia is better than Joey. That's not saying much and it's not like he's lightyears ahead of Joey but he is better. It doesn't even make sense for the Lions to play at all, they are calling the same damn plays Mooch was calling. Wasn't one of the points of firing Mooch to get rid of his boring ass dull play calls? Heaton 1 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 Alright, great, I made it about Joey. Garcia still hasn't done anything in Detroit, I thought he was supposed to make plays with his feet on his own? I thought he wasn't just a product of a system with the best reciever in football?
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 Can't watch the game myself, but I see that it's halftime and Garcia is 8-for-19 with a whopping, what, 41 yards? Time for Orlovsky.

I thought he wasn't just a product of a system with the best reciever in football? Well given the fact that he was injured and the players really don't give a s**t right now so they have no timing (hey people used that excuse with Joey) with each other AND add the same stupid play calling no quarterback is going to look good. Untill KJ gets back and teams start respecting the run they will lose every game. And even then since they are still calling the same plays they still will probably lose. timothy1997 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 I am convinced the Lions owners should just fold the team. No shame saying "we just can't do this". The Lions owners should then look into getting the USFL back because thats the only michigan pro football works.
Heaton 1 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 Well I guess you can keep using that excuse since I don't see Garcia or Harrington being here next season.

J-Swift 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 God we suck....... WE had this game and jackass throws a pick....... To be fair, they had no business being in this game at the end anyways. But Garcia did indeed have a man open and threw directly into coverage.
Grind_Lines_#1_Fan 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 The Lions already suck so they might as well keep on losing to get a good enough pick to get D'Brickshaw Ferguson, he has fell down a little bit, I think out of the top five

betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 The Lions already suck so they might as well keep on losing to get a good enough pick to get D'Brickshaw Ferguson, he has fell down a little bit, I think out of the top five Unfortunately Da Brick plays the same position as our best lineman, Backus. To get Ferguson (and believe me, I'd be thrilled to have him) the Lions would do well to try and convert him to guard instead of tackle. Left guard is easily the worst position on that line. Eric Winston of Miami plays left tackle as well, so that's no better an option. Forget Reggie Bush. No running back can run behind that line. I say, nab Ferguson if he's available. BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 I went to the game (my first NFL game) and it was pretty ugly. I swear as soon as that ball left Garcia's hand, everyone in the stadium knew it was going to get picked, got up, and headed to the exit before it was even in the Vikings player's hand. On the other hand, security chasing the guy with the "Fire Millen" sign was pretty funny.
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 Getting ugly these days...the fans are definitely making themselves heard. Only one home game left for the fans to vent, and vent they will, because Cincinnati is coming and there's nothing like getting stomped early on to stir up the fans' impatience. Didn't realize Backus will be a UFA. He's as good as gone then....who on earth would stick around this clownhouse?
