Hard to believe it has been nearly 7 years since tigers last played there. I know they didn't want to tear it down but they have no choice now. No one wants it. Sorry to see it go, but time to move on.

Mayor plans to raze old Tiger Stadium. The mayor's plan is as follows:

THE MAYOR'S PLAN

Tiger Stadium: Demolished beginning this fall.

Playing field: Preserved as a park and ball field.

Preserved: A tiny portion of the stadium structure may be saved for a Corktown welcome center.

Built: Residential and retail development around the field.

Money: The city would pay for the demolition, estimated to cost $3 million to $6 million.

Developers: Unnamed private groups would find the $40 million to $70 million for the new projects.

WHAT'S NEXT

Souvenirs: A salvage consultant will help determine how many seats and other artifacts can be sold to the public.

Bids: The city is to seek bids from demolition firms and developers.

I was sorry to see the Tigers leave that stadium, but it should have been torn down 7 years ago. It has just become another abondoned building in Detroit.

Tear it down already, its just sitting there rotting away- no maintenance, nothing....After the wrecking ball is done over there, bring it over to JLA.
