I was thinking that too.

Anyways, the reason theyre signing another top 4 is because they are clearly preparing to trade Mathieu Schneider and Jason Williams to Edmonton for Raffi Torres. :sly:

Its really too bad Lowe is one of those "smart" GMs

LOL, seriously though, i am convinced that if this signing is Jonsson then one of the Wings current D-men is on the way out.

I agree. I dont by this whole "Lebda, Lilja, and Chelios are going to rotate out". First of all, Babcock loves Lilja and Lebda, not to mention that Lebda needs the time and Lilja wont go from most improved player to 7th spot. Second of all, you dont just "rotate players" out of the 7th spot. That screws up chemistry and all kinds of stuff. I mean, what happens when, say, Chelios and Lebda are playing amazing together? Do you just rotate anyways even though its for the better of the team that they stick together. It just doesnt make sense. And I dont think I even have to touch on the fact that Chris Chelios is not going to be the 7th guy after the season he has. Or for that matter, simply because hes Chris Chelios.

Basically, if any team that Detroit is planning on trading with is asking for a defenseman in return (Lilja or Schneider), Detroit needs to have that replacement signed or at least on the hook before the trade.

Exactly right, To me the most obvious choice to be traded is Schneider, Jonsson is a younger, bigger, more defensively sound Schneider and he will come cheaper. For me personally i feel that it doesn't make any sense to keep Schneider around if Jonsson is signed. If Schneider is kept around that would mean that the Wings would have 5 offensive defenseman dreesed every night, it doesn't make sense.

a source very close to Kronwall confirmed that this deal was made lastnight. Markov is a Red Wing so people can stop speculating about who the top4 D man will be.

btw: a new thread was started here: http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/?showtopic=36820

i finally decided to make the switch over to this board from the foxsports forums... looking forward to kicking around here with you guys. after all, i got tired of listening to foxsports' users build ridiculous debates about how the wings are done without the captain... #19 is and will be a legend but he's not the team.

looks like Muse beat me to the window... sorry about the double post guys.

TSN is reporting that Markov has been signed by the Wings.

See this LGW thread to discuss: http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=36820
