Habs talking to Wings

And the thought that Latendresse would obviously solve our need for a scoring winger better than Williams or Samuelsson, when Latendresse has played zero NHL games and the other two are 20 goal scorers? Kopecky I can understand the argument, as Kopecky has yet to get any real NHL experience himself. But the fact remains, Latendresse is still a raw prospect, no matter what you might think he'll be in five or ten years, he's not that NOW.

Im sorry I don't recall ever saying anything like that...perhaps I've missed something in this thread or in my own words. Did I call Latendresse the next Bert or Shanny somewhere? Did I specifcally say he'd be the mircle player to answer this organizations need. No...no I don't think so. Infact wait....no I've already made my point. The 5-10 years assestment is cute though. I like that. Would you apply it it Malkin? Or say the same of Grule, Kessel, Hudler or hell any prospect. Sometrhing tells me your undermine what a year or tow of seasoning can do to a player. 5-10 years s*** man, when your 20...5-10 your hitting the prime. So I really don't get you analysis I guess. No duh he's not gonna be the player he is now in 5-10 years. He better be damn better. Doesn't make him valuable or useful now.

Read WhiteLightning91's post. Better yet;

Bottom line: Latendresse would solve our problem for needing a scoring winger better than Williams, Kopecky or Smauelsson this season.

oh so Im supposed to sit here on behalf of what someone else state because their opinion is close to mine? Not happen'in eva. Nor would I expect you to do the same. though I expect Latendresse to already be a hell of alot better than Kopecky...Williams or Smauelsson ha doubt that consider this is his first year. What Im arguing is you comparing him to Martin L over, over and over. You have the same clue I do. Which is really nothing if you consider how little we know when it comes to him. As much as we'd both like to think so we're not pro scouts. I realize we have a differance of opinion here and thats fine, sh*t thats understandable. But what Im trying to do here is this....find out why you keep comparing him (when he hits his prime) to Lapointe what the hell kind of base do you have hear? I mean I state what I state from reading scouting reports (not just the Hab ones) and actually catching him play a handful of games.

Latendresse' big weakness is his subpar skating, and he's projected as a second line talent in EVERY scouting report I've read. He is a physical guy capable of playing either side. What about all that DOESN'T compare in both ability and style to Marty Lapointe?

the fact that Marty Lapointe is a 3rd liner since he left the Wings and will most likly remain a 3rd liner until he hangs them up. Plus Latendresse has far more offesnive upside than Lapointe.

As mentioned before, Lapointe put up better numbers in juniors.

As a matter of fact, so did Darryl Bootland.
