If there's one team I cannot stand.....

Ok, it takes A LOT for me to just hate a team, I'm not into trash talking or media hype for sports all that much, kinda a behind-the-scenes just watch the game kinda guy, but I seriously cannot stand the Hurricanes.

First, stomping on the Louisville Cardinals logo at Louisville earlier this season. And Louisville knocks the tar out of them, 31-7 I believe. Disrespectful at the very least and they pay for it.

If you watch SportsCenter tonight/tomorrow morning with college football highlights, you'd think Miami playing Florida International wouldn't be anything special to look at for more than a second. But nope, a big melee between the teams pans out. I couldn't tell how it started or who started it, but to me it doesn't matter, just the fact that it involves Miami is just a joke. One Hurricane player took his helmet off and slammed a guy from FIU in the head or somewhere on his body

It seems like the most selfish, the most show-off type athletes ALWAYS play for this football team. Coker better install some discipline in these sorry athletes fast.

I cannot stand the Hurricanes.

EDIT: Mods feel free to put this in college football thread if necessary, just wanted to rant away at this in a new thread.

I'm surprised a Miami player wasnt carrying heat and shot somebody. It wouldnt amaze me that much.

FIU might have gotten the brunt of the ejections, but this is the sort of thing that follows Miami around. And no wonder: the first thing that happened after Miami scored the first TD of the game was that the touchdown-scorer taunted the FIU bench. Jackass thing to do. Miami's the more established program and the better football team, they have no business taunting an 0-7 football team they brought in to inflate their record.

18 ejections, 13 from FIU. Miami didnt start that brawl from what I saw. In fact, an FIU player kicked the s*** out of a Miami player that was on the ground. Bad brawl for football

13 players ejected, 8 from FIU. There were several Miami players who did some ridiculous things that werent ejected.

Here is ESPN.com's recap of the Miami-FIU game. I'm assuming it's an Assoc. Press recap so it'll probably be the same off all major sports sites.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=262872390

Most notably...

James Bryant caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Wright, then drew a 15-yard flag for unsportsmanlike conduct. After making the catch, he appeared to point at the FIU (0-7) bench, then took a theatrical bow toward the stands.

"It's not our fault," said Miami's Kenny Phillips, who had an interception. "Whatever it was, it wasn't us."

Whatever Phillips. That doesn't excuse the actions of your team or make it justifiable to act just as classless as what FIU 'started'.

Wright said "there was a little bit of talking back and forth" in the 2½ quarters before the fight, but said he didn't envision a scenario where tensions would get that high.

But he added that he believed FIU was the side primarily at fault during the fight.

"It's something they started," Wright said. "And our guys finished it. ... They're going home with a 35-0 loss and they're 0-7."

I'd expect more from you Kyle Wright, being the starting QB of the team and one of the leaders. I don't give a s**t who started it. I'd be expecting you to be one of the first people on the field breaking the fight up and bringing you players back to the bench and giving them an ass-kicking for being absolutely classes and stupid, not assigning blame.

how in the world did larry coker lose control of this team. I had all the respect for the team and there players when they had dorsey, maghee, winslow and co. In just a few years, that team has gone out of control. Larry Coker will be lucky to finish this season. No way do you bring that guy back.

i was at the game(i'm not a UM fan) and there were some really nasty punches, kicks, and there was even an FIU player who was using his crutch as a weapon. I've always hated the canes and thought they were a bunch of thugs and this just makes me think even less of them.

Here's a story to add to the fodder. Do any of you remember the Miami-Penn State national championship game at the Fiesta Bowl in 1987? (awhile ago I know) Anyhow, my folks lived in Arizona at the time, so I was visiting during winter break, and remember seeing all of this on the news. Here's an old newspaper excerpt:

"And on that night, the Miami team that took the field was a classically Orwellian team. That bunch of Hurricanesâ€â€coached by Jimmy Johnson, quarterbacked by Vinny Testaverde, epitomized by Michael Irvin, and swayed by egoâ€â€was a team Mr. Orwell easily could have written about.

You see, when the Hurricanes got off their plane on Dec. 26, 1986, entering The Valley of the Sun for their big game, the supposed student-athletes from Coral Gables wore combat fatigues. You couldn’t have put such a sight in a Hollywood football movie if you tried. It was beyond Burt Reynolds’ wildest dreams, beyond Adam Sandler’s imagination. It was a classic case of war meaning peaceâ€â€that’s how that 1986 Miami team looked at football and all of life.

This outlook and personality only became reaffirmed and entrenched in the public mind when, at a Fiesta Bowl luncheon later on in the week, the Hurricanes brought the army outfits again and conducted a high-voltage food fight before the stunned and mild-mannered Penn State boys. If Miami couldn’t create a war, the team from South Florida would not be at peace. George Orwell would have loved the ’86 Canes."

I remember the Miami team walked out on the Penn State guys during their statement/speech at the dinner too. Thankfully, Joe Pa and Penn State went on to beat these hoodlums to claim the title. This is why I have never liked the 'Canes. I never cared for Testaverde either. Also thankfully, he never won anything big in the NFL.

Thought it was intersting Woody on Cold Pizza (Note: I do think Cold Pizza/Woody suck) but anyway he had thought Miami should shut down the whole football program because "they've been known as thugs for 25 years"

I think thats a great idea! Although it will never happen...its nice to dream.

Miami's reputation is a big reason why I love Santana Moss. He can make some great plays and afterwards what does he do? He shuts the hell up and goes back to the huddle. So rare to see that from a Miami U product.

Teams like Miami make me proud that Michigan has had so few incidents, on and off the field. I'd rather have a 9-3 team with a great reputation than to win with a bunch of thug players.
