Guest LSSULaker889294 Report post Posted February 18, 2007 Who's NMU's starting goalie? Zannaboni? Yes it is. I don't think it's his fault for Northern's off season since he has some good numbers.
BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted February 18, 2007 Despite State laying an egg against WMU, they moved up from 14th to tied for 13th in the PWR. Still going to need a big showing in the CCHA tournament.
hawkupaloogie 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2007 Yes it is. I don't think it's his fault for Northern's off season since he has some good numbers. bill zaniboni is northern's goalie, and brian stewart is the backup. you're absolutely right. goaltending is definitely not the issue in marquette. our defense tends to have lapses and our offense outside of santorelli, just isn't producing. in all fairness, we lost our top defensive pairing, and two of our top scorers to graduation last year. this year just wasn't northern's year, but it didn't really come as a surprise to those familar with the program. anyone else watching the um/lssu game on fsn? lakers are currently down 3-0 after two periods. sorry lssulaker, but this is good for northern, so, even though it makes me feel dirty, go wolverines! mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted February 19, 2007 Is Zaniboni the guy who's been there the last couple years with the yellow pads? Yeah he has pads like Marc Andrea Fluery, but last season was his first year starting.
hawkupaloogie 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2007 Is Zaniboni the guy who's been there the last couple years with the yellow pads? Zani's been around for several years, but this is only his second year starting. He was backup to Tarkki two years ago. I regret to inform you all that he no longer sports the yellow pads. We were all disappointed up at Northern, mainly cuz we couldn't call him "Big Bird" anymore. here's a pic of his new pads, no yellow at all

Maybe I had him confused with Tarkki. Both NMU goalies with funny names. As a side note, I have always liked Northern's jerseys, I think they're really sharp. As of right now, MSU would take the last spot in the tournament. They're tied for 13th with Colorado College and St. Lawrence, but have a higher RPI.

Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted February 21, 2007 WOW!! Read the headline of this Detroit News article......they made a big mistake! http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...1131/SPORTS0201 Would have been better if it was Hensuck. I'll be at both games this weekend...hope to win at least one. My best friend and brother might be coming down, who are MIchigan fans...so if you see a fight break out in the stands, that probably me.
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted February 24, 2007 Michigan scores with a minute left and the assholes win 4-3. OSU was up 2-0 and Michigan scored with apparently no time left at the end of the first...not sure how it's possible to score and not have 0.01 left on the clock, but Michigan did. Guest LSSULaker889294 Report post Posted February 24, 2007 (edited) Lakers lose tonight and fail to clinch home ice thanks to their sucky power play. Pathetic! Also with Alaska losing tonight, LSSU and Ferris will be playing against each other in the first round of the playoffs since it's gurranteed it will be LSSU/FSU #8/#9. The question is which team will be #8 and have home ice? If the Lakers win, they have home ice. If not, LSSU better pray Ferris lose or tie cause if they win, we play most likely the hottest team in the CCHA right now on the road. Jakatis was strong again (was the #3 star) but the second goal he should have back. Edited February 24, 2007 by LSSULaker889294

BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted February 24, 2007 Nice to see State snap their losing streak and beat up on BF. It's senior night for the Spartans tonight, they need to send their 5 seniors off in style with a win. On the plus side, with the win State locks up 4th place and a first round bye. And they moved into sole possession of 13th place in the PWR.

BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 Bad night for the Spartans. Losing to last place BG drops State to 15th in the PWR. At least as of an hour ago.
Guest LSSULaker889294 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 Nice win by the Lakers, defeating the Broncos 4-3. Even though they *gasp* scored a goal on the power-play, they still had more short-handed goals with two. Even if the Lakers lost, they still would of had home ice since Ferris lost to Notre Dame. I think it will be an entertaining series with Ferris next weekend. It will be a very close series My prediction is LSSU in three in dramatic fashion. Game One- LSSU 4 FSU 2 Game Two- FSU 3 LSSU 2 Game Three- LSSU 4 FSU 3 (2 OTS!) Also Nothern plays at Ohio State next weekend too. I'm going to be gutsy and say the Cats will pull the upset and sweept the Buckeyes. I think they could be the sleeper team in these playoffs. Bad night for the Spartans. Losing to last place BG drops State to 15th in the PWR. At least as of an hour ago. That's pathetic! If they don't make it to the CCHA tournament championship game, I think they won't get a NCAA tournament bid. And I don't think they will.

BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 That's pathetic! If they don't make it to the CCHA tournament championship game, I think they won't get a NCAA tournament bid. And I don't think they will. Pathetic is right. After checking the PWR this morning, with the bonus MSU is tied for 16th with UMass and St. Lawrence. Unfortunately, both those schools still have a higher RPI. I have to agree that it's going to take MSU getting to the CCHA championship to make the tournament. Northern Michigan over Ohio State in a sweep wow, i hope you guys are right. i'm nervous, i don't think northern's won at ohio state for quite some time, but i'm not sure. this year has been the tale of two teams. friday was probably the worst game i've seen them play all year, but then, on saturday, they were on fire. every line was clicking, and zani was a wall. i don't know if it was inspiration from senior night or if things just clicked, but i hope they carry it into columbus. looking at season series, upsets don't seem too likely this year. nebraska went 4-0 against bowling green western went 2-0 against alaska ohio state went 3-1 against northern lake state went 1-0-1 against ferris my completely baseless predictions (a.k.a. what i want to happen): nebraska sweeps bowling green alaska beats western in three northern beats ohio state in three lake state sweeps ferris

Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 No, my brother didnt come down because of the ice storm so I stayed home and listened to the Wings game/watched the OSU-UM game on GameTracker. Looked like a pretty wild event, wish I would have went despite the weather.
