MLive: Lang could be dealt prior to deadline

This is a valid complaint from him, I feel. With all due respect to Dano (and none to Willy, who sucks) ol' Bob doesn't really have a lot to work with. In their defense, though (except for Willy's, because he sucks) he's basically floating like what out there and seems totally disinterested after a hot start.

The two may need some time away from each other. :P

That's been the problem since day one with this 06-07 team. We have NO good wingers. We had to put two centres together to get any production going.

I'm sure if Lang had Guerin along side him all year he'd be a completely different player. Man I wish Holland had listened to me and picked him up! He's on pace for over 30 goals. Just imagine what he could be doing playing with Lang, Zetts or Dats.

Because his replacement, Forsberg, is an even better playoff performer and all-around player? Yes, he's more injury-prone, but you'd be hard-pressed to find better playoff performers out there, IMO.

I don't feel Lang is dealt unless Forsberg is already a Wing.

 I agree. We cannot give away a guy that we will need in the playoffs if we do not have his replacement.

If the Wings somehow land a guy like Forsberg or Bill Guerin, tht makes Lang extendable to an extnent.

It won't completely kill me if he's traded but if the Wings are quiet by the conclusion of the trade deadine, the Wings are going to need somebody with Lang's size, and it would sting a little bit if he was gone then.

No matter how sluggish/slow he looks, he'll pop out of nowhere and make a play or get the job done, and he's one of the few Wings that have produced when it's counted most.

His status with the Wings over these next few weeks will be really interesting to observe...

On the back of last night’s performance, Lang must go.

He seems to be putting in less effort with every outing. Yes he’s a proven playoff performer but given his state of mind I can’t see him turning it around.

I agree with you

Just to note: It was mentioned that the Rangers, Canadiens and Thrashers had scouts at the Wings/Flyers game last night.

While the Canadiens have been rumored to be interested in Forsberg, they've been attached to Lang rumors longer. I don't believe that the Rangers nor the Thashers are actively persuing Forsberg either.

Looks like those three are your potential suitors if Lang gets dealt.

I would love to see Lang gone. Cleary may have played himself out, and I agreed with you guys about trading Williams after last year instead of re-signing him.

We screwed up. We need to get some size and scoring now... or start re-building.

We'll give the Habs Lang and a draft pick for Sourray :P

I'm surprised the whisper of a trade with Montreal was mentioned and so far nobody's started drooling over Latendresse yet. Wasn't he the guy Holland should be shot and cremated for not drafting?

*Begins drooling over Latendresse.

I was reading Ek's latest rumors and he says Joseph is a possibilty for Detroit! Am I missing something? I love Cujo but that could never happen, unless there's something going on with our goalies that we don't know about?

Also, Holland has said he's trying to make the Wings as strong as he can heading into the playoffs and is willing to trade some assets of the team. Holland says he's touched based with forward moving clubs

QFT

However, if Foresberg can't prove he's healthy, I'm going to be very leery about this.

The rivalry was 'officially' over when:

a) Turtle left the Avs (not the Lilja turtle we saw last night againt Philly... the Claude-Turtle that went to Phoenix)

b) Krupp joined the Wings

The rest is just vapors of a rivalry that burned hot and quickly over those three or so years when Colorado was acually a threat.

Hopefully it's because people realize there's no way a) the Habs will trade him b) Holland will even ask since he prefers veterans.

What the hell does this have to do with me? Did I once talk about the rivary being a reason of being leery over Floppa coming our way?

Did you quote the wrong person?

I saw that too, I'm thinking what little crediblity was had by him is surley diminished now. Cujo to the Wings? Hasek would have to go the other way, or retire.

If you need another hearty laugh NFM, there's the kronner rumor again in this article.

I don't believe for a second that Forsberg will command a return in the mold of Kronwall or Getzlaf. A decent NHL-ready prospect (Hudler or similar) and picks should be it.

I think Kronwall shows no sign of a great d-man he always hooking out of place i think lilypad looks better then him ok that maybe far out there.

It's not really that important, but as a nitpick, Larry Murphy didn't join the team until the trade deadline that year.

That's not a nitpick--it exposes an unsound argument.

In any case, I can deal with the loss of Lang now.

OH BOY. DID YOU REALLY JUST ELEVATE LILJA OVER KRONWALL? GOOD GOD. WOW. WOW. I DON'T BELIEVE IT.

On a funny note, does anyone note that we've lost an incredible amount more with Lilja than without him? Yeah, he opens up holes the size of Japan in our defense.

I would be quite uneasy if we dealt Kronner for Forsberg

Hell yes. If we needed to play the entire playoffs with Lilja in the starting six, I think I wouldn't even watch.

Holland's acquisition of Markov makes me believe that he feels the same.

I fail to see how a team this good is the product of a screw-up. Despite all the bitching and the shortcomings in hitting, we're still one of the best teams in the league. FYI: we have scoring. Our top line is #1 in the league right now. Our 2nd line is currently cold, but they were our top scoring line earlier in the season. The situation is hardly bad. Your idea of a rebuild is undoubtedly the most ludicrous drivel I've read on this board in months.

Cleary? If the guy can score 10 goals in a year, he's worth $650K. As of now, he's playing with Lang--who sucks ass recently-- and Williams (who has sucked ass the entire season). A natural winger like Cleary won't have the ability to score without people to get him the puck. Lang can't pass anymore, and Williams can't handle the puck worth s***.
