Dano33 41 Report post Posted February 13, 2007 it is starting to piss me off, i didnt see much of the game tonight, but lately it seems like schneider is taking way too many shots. every time he gets the puck on the power play he just tees one up. i know its good to get pucks to the net, but slamming it into a defenders shin pads isn't doing any good. instead of shooting all of the time he should set up lidtrom for a one-timer or somethin. anyone else notice this??? He just isn't having luck finding the net lately, example being like you said deflecting off players shinpads. But, today he actually pissed me off (as did most of the Wings )... I believe it was in the second period. We were on a 3 v 2 and he shot it from the blue line... why?!! Yeah, that one made me wonder too. If it was like a 3 on 2 with Maltby and Drapers, then yeah, i would understand shooting it and letting them crash the net. Souray would bring a physical presence that we don't have, and a rocket of a shot, but overall he's overrated in my opinion. His defensive game is in no way great. People assume it's so very easy to just get right back into game shape and leave off to how you were playing before the injury. That's not the case. Give the guy some time. Schneider has been excellent since the Wings acquired him in '03. As for taking too many shots, my Dad was saying the same thing. He thinks Schneids is selfish, but I just say he's got a hell of a shot and scores a lot so he may as well take em at every chance that he gets. How much is Schneids making right now? Around 3.5 mil? I think IF Schneids is willing to take a pay cut around 2.5 to 3 mil at the most then the Wings would definitely keep him. Schnedier JUST came off a knee issues where he sat out a number of games, give the guy some time to get his A game back. He hasn't been doing anything wrong that the rest of the team isn't doing as well. The Philly game was a rough game for every player, I mean s***, Lidstrom AND Zetterberg were both -3.... That doesn't happen often. This is called "get over it and move on" time. Do as the players would do, you take the loss, learn from it, and concentrate on the next game. Souray is a UFO next year.I'd rather put 3 to 4 million on a younger,bigger defenceman.I know he can be a defensive liability at times,but so is Scheider.He also has one of the hardest shots in the league.
