HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted February 24, 2007 3. I’d like to welcome back Kirk Maltby after a 2+ year absence. Nice to see him getting back to the hitting and agitating. YES. Maltby was great tonight. If he was like that every game then no one would ever complain about him.

Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted February 24, 2007 s*** happens. Teams lose games. The Preds lost to the Habs last night. Tough luck for them. Tough luck for us tonight. Gvet over it. The Wings are now one point up on the Preds. Ok? I defy you to tell me, after tonight's game, that Cleary is not playing well. Lang? Lang doesn't belong in the same category as Cleary. Lang is at the bottom of the barrel. No, no--Lang doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as barrels. They're too good for him. EDIT: I am defending Cleary here. datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted February 24, 2007 YES. Maltby was great tonight. If he was like that every game then no one would ever complain about him. he was definitely showing flashes of a younger maltby out there. that's nice to see. otherwise he's been pretty much invisible this year. Earlier this week he was saying that he wanted to bring his physicality back and play a bigger role and well tonight he showed it. Keep it up, Malts!

royedwards 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2007 Glad I missed this one--I hate shootouts. It's good to have a point, though, especially with Nashville struggling. Tomorrow should be interesting.

Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted February 24, 2007 In the third, I got excited for a second. I believe I saw Flipulla-Lang-Hudler line out there... but it must have been an accident or something, because right back after that there was lang, franzen and williams. Guest DetroitBoy313 Report post Posted February 24, 2007 I truly believe if the Wings end up first again in the conference and the Oilers squeeze in that 8th playoff spot I think we get knocked out the first round. They have our number, especially if they can get healthy. ' Good to see Kirk Maltby in the line-up after a 2-year layoff. f*** Jason Williams. Get Lang a winger or get him the f*** out of Hockeytown.

HenrikRules40 14 Report post Posted February 24, 2007 The first period was such a rollercoaster! Hank's goal was very Hull-like...I thoroughly enjoyed it. But we slacked in the third. I knew once they scored their third goal we were going to lose. We just weren't in it at the end. The whole time I was scared that we were tiring ourselves out and will be too tired for the Preds tomorrow. Ah well...we still got a point. And our supposed 4th line was amazing! I was pumped when Flip scored! Move them to the second line NOW! *Warning - rant coming in 3...2...1* And who the F*CK tripped Zata into the boards AFTER a penalty had been called already??? I'm lookin' at you Sykora. You little prick. I'm gonna hunt you down and cut you into a thousand tiny pieces with a skate. Don't you ever touch Hank again. You think I'm kidding? BRING IT! Guest Tunbo Batman Report post Posted February 24, 2007 why do we suck in shootouts? its not fair. anyway, me rooting for DET has the advantage of me not seeing 25 of them every year, since this team gets TEAM WINS instead of going to SO every other game (see Buffalo, Wild, Dallas) just how many SO points do those teams have? Far too many. It isn't fair, because then they get good seeding in the playoffs.
GuloGulo 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2007 Meh Oilers won 1, we won 1, two games went to SO (irrelevant). The Preds have to worry about the Oil anyway, we're pretty much bound for the Sharks/Stars now.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 24, 2007 I actually cheered when Lang got hit in the third. You know, I was hoping it would fire him up and he might get something done. He didn't do s***. He was soley responsible for the Torres goal. No hustle, just floating from spot to spot in a no-assed effort at coverage. What the hell is this guy's problem? He seriously needs some time glued to the bench. In any event, we managed to skate to a tie. No good for the shootout, but whatever. A point's a point. SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted February 24, 2007 (edited) 1 point is better than 0. Gotta give Edmonton some credit, playing good apparently at Columbus and still having some gas left in the tank the next night and not just letting the tires fall off after those first two goals (and awful penalty calls). They are a desperate team who still has an outside chance at a playoff spot if Minnesota or Calgary start tanking, so I expected this to be a tough game even after the Wings went ahead 2-0. They got some really decent skilled guys that can wreak havoc despite not being in the playoff picture right now. We all know this first hand from last spring. The refereeing in the first period was a joke. Hey, I'll take the two PP goals any way I can, but besides when Hudler was yanked down on the ice on the intial PP (to a horrible call as well), there were very little penalties out there IMO. Let the guys play for crying out loud. Note to Hasek: We know you're the man, but please stay in your crease area when there's players in the defensive zone. Hopefully the Wings aren't gassed out and are napping well right now and can be rested and healed up for the big game tonight and Osgood is sharp. If we can get at least another point tonight (but preferably two ), I'll be content going into next game. Edited February 24, 2007 by SouthernWingsFan
