Zetter is Better

Peters Vs. Mc Grattan

Neil won, McGratton not so much. I thought Peters a had the better shots.

McGrattan only got hit by like 3 or 4 punches (one good one), and Peters got hit by way more. And yes the fight was close but watch the end where Mc Grattan stunns Peters and then gives him a couple more shots to the back of the head as Peters falls. (which means he lost).

Just because Peters went down doesnt mean its an automatic loss...to me that looked like more of a balance thing than getting punched down. Thats a big difference. Peters clearly landed the hardest shot, but i still give Gratts the overall edge.

By the way, if you're calling it a close fight...why are you using words like owned? Just curious.

"Owned"? "Destroyed"? Hardly Zetter...dont let your emotions scew things now! Edge McGrattan, this was way closer than your making it sound.

Agree, and the earlier comment about Mair not wanting any part of Neil's challenge was bulls*** too. Neil ran him and had a penalty called against him, of course Mair isn't going to screw up his team's powerplay by doing somethin' stupid like taking a swing at Neil after the whistle. Neil didn't even hit Mair that hard to begin with, and Mair did get all up in Neil's face afterwards waiting for Neil to throw something.

Call 'em like you see 'em!

Or, it means McGratton got a couple of cheapies in when Peters was losing his balance.

Sorry my friend, you must've missed the 2nd shift of the game when Neil lined up with Mair and challenged him, to wit Mair declined like a *****, then as the play moves along they meet up in the Sabres zone and Neil challenges him again, again Mair ******* out, and then later at center ice he's challenged again and ******* out. Neil bumped into Mair 3 times on that shift and invited him to have a straight up fair fight and Mair wanted no piece of it.

Of course maybe you think Mair figured it was too early in the game to fight, huh?

Mair beat up on Spezza. He knows he's a marked man for that. Neil challenges you to a fight and you don't answer the bell = you are a *****.

The 2nd time is somewhat understandable as Neil was already getting penalized. So i'll give you that one.

As for the actual dust up, you can see in Mair's face that he doesn't really want to go with Neil. Classic Neil overpowering his opponent. The close up shots of Neil's face are priceless. He's trying to figure out how to get the best grip on Mair and deliver the hardest shots possible. He's got his head up all the way and is staring down Mair who by the way has his body turned and his head tucked away 'cause he really didn't want to get pounded. Mair's a middleweight and he got called out by Neil for beating on Spezza and he should've fought him during that first challenge. He's a *****.

Zetter.. are you a Sens fan or something??? McGrattan didnt own Peters.. If anything Peters knuckle hurt after that early shot he landed... i bet McGrattan is still feeling that one..

Wings fan first, Sens fan second, and a Sabres/Avs hater. And the Sabres lost so HAHA.

Very noble of Peters to remove his helmet after McGratton lost his.

True , he is a fair fighter, except when he faught Emery.

Yeah, I just saw the replay on that play where Neil had already been penalized and was waiting to go to the box which showed Mair and Neil face to face, so if Neil challenged him before that, I didn't see it. Either way, Neil won the fight, there's no question about that.

decent fight, although I like the Sabres way more than the Sens and think the hit on Drury was cheap as hell.

Here's the problem I have with people who think the Neil hit was cheap. It's one thing for the hit to be in your opinion or Ruff's or anybody's to be "cheap". That's one thing. However, cheap does not equate to illegal and I think the NHL has a problem here.

The hit has been analyzed all over the place it boils down to this. The hit was not late. Sorry, less than 1/2 second after releasing the puck is not late. He did not use his elbow. It was a shoulder to jaw hit. He did not leave his feet nor did he charge him.

On a pure basis of whether or not the hit is illegal, its clearly a clean hit by current NHL standards.

Now, if the NHL wants to change the standards then they'll have to look at that but here's the rub. What the f*** are they going to change it to?

A. You simply cannot hit a player who doesn't possess the puck. I don't see how that's gonna work.

B: You cannot hit a player who doesn't see you coming or basically from their blind side. Not really sure how that could be possible.

C: You cannot hit a player in the head (sort of like the QB rule in football). Still, I don't see how that's possible either. Players come in all shapes and sizes and the basic nature of the sport dictates that you skate with your body leaning forward so your head just happens to stick out there.

IMO, there's nothing the league can do. So basically it boils down to what players are calling the respect thing. Do you respect your opponent enough not to level him when you clearly have the opportunity to do so. The way I see it you finish all your checks and its the other guy's problem if he's got his head down. Once you try to start policing what type of hits you can or cannot throw this is going to really turn into the NoHittlingLeague.
