Guest Crymson Report post Posted March 2, 2007 lets play Mike Babcok here... with bert and calder here...we can roll 4 solid lines! lets hear your lines... We've been through this before, but let me push my ideal lines again--I'm excited about these. Zetts - Dats - Homer <--- needs no explanation Franzenstein - Langer - Bert <--- Franzen has proven himself, but I'd take Calder here as well; they could be interchangable. Calder - Filp - Cleary <-- strong center, and two strong wingers Malts - Drapes - Sammy <-- Maltby can agitate and check, Draper can speed and check, and Sammy is a big guy who can shoot the puck hard. As we've seen, Sammy doesn't do well when he's set up-- he does best when he gets the puck randomly--nor can he set others up well. Maltby and Draper are great at digging up pucks, but Draper can't set up.. etc. This would make a great line of free-floaters.. non-traditional. Four strong lines-- thumbs up. daniel1 32 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 Didn't we already have a thread on this like yesterday? Oh well, probably the second of many like it to come... After watching the Wings walk over the Hawks (i know, it WAS the Hawks), I really liked what I saw from Franzen. He might even get a shot on the second line maybe with Lang and Bert. That being said, it would be nice to see Flip with a couple of Wingers who can score... maybe Sams and Cleary? If Cleary liked playing with a center like Lang, just think of how much he'll like playing for one that isn't slow, lazy or fat? Lol...sorry Bob, but you gotta start movin those feet man! That leaves Calder to play with Drapes and Malts and our first line intact after Z returns that is. There's a lot of good combos that can be bandied about here but this would be mine for now... Z - Dats - Homer Bert - Lang - Franzen Cleary - Flip - Sams Calder - Drapes - Malts Sorry Huddles... you don't crack the lineup until someone blows a tire... or just plain starts to blow (hear that Sams? Malts?, we have options now... so produce or sit the hell down! ) Why not mention the D too? Heck print is cheap and slacking off is sooo much easier than working today anyways so... I would like to see Lebda get a little more time and Schneids a little less time... except on the PP. I love Lebda's speed and he might be able to get back to make up for Kronwall's oh-so-frequent giveaways better than Schneids. Also correct me if I'm wrong but it appears Lebs will be Schneids replacement after this year as I don't think we'll resign Schneids with Kindle and Ericsson on the way. Lids - Markov Krowall - Lebda Schneids - Cheli Sorry Lils... you don't crack my lineup unless every Wings D in Grand Rapids is on jury duty or called to action in the French Foreign Legion. Now if you start using that ugly puss and huge frame to stick up for your teammates like Lebda or Cleary... then I might let you in for a shift or two... till then you're out. Samuelsson= Sammy, never Sams. I feel Calder would do better with Flip than would Sammy. Samuelsson is not a guy who deals well with being set up. We have seen him fumble passes from Z and Dats time and time again. Calder can take it. Samuelsson can play on the 4th line with the two guys on the team who do not have a strength in setting up plays. Kronwall and Lebda will not play together because they are both faster, more defensive defensemen. Schneider and Chelios will not play together because they are both old and slower than Kronwall and Lebda. Plus, Chelios is not the best man to set up Schneider. Kronwall is better at this. Guest Crymson Report post Posted March 2, 2007 I like these. Good job!! So, where do we put Lebda? I like him. No opinions on D? I am interested in your opinion. I haven't a clue. Lebda is solid. What I feel more unsure about is where to put Kronwall. Ideally he should go with Lidstrom, as Kronnic has been a bit shaky of late. As for Lebda, I think he could viably pair up with anybody. Line ideas, anyone? Who cares? Anyway, that thread isn't even on the first page anymore, so give a break to whomever started this one.

I agree, I think Lebda is one of the most talented young players I've seen in a while. I know he was in GR for a couple of years but I'd never seen him play til this season. Guest Crymson Report post Posted March 2, 2007 It is there nonetheless and its 3 pages long at that. Again, why is this important to you? Also, if you were new to the forum--as is the thread-starter here--I would not expect you to look further than the front page before posting a new thread. For that matter, I wouldn't expect myself to do that either. Enough.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 Calder can easily play on the second or third lines respectivly. I like his chemistry with Franzen so far, so we'll play that one out and see what happens. Personally, a line of Calder-Filppula-Franzen would be a pretty good line. You have Calder who can play physical and score points. Franzen can be the big body in front of the net, and Filppula can be the playmaking center. I'd like to see Babcock try something like this down the road. We'll have one great one, one hopefully very good one, and two quite good ones.
