I gotta wonder when it got canned though, I didn't even notice until someone brought it up. If it had to be trashed, it'd make sense if it got trashed when the fires were blazing ..not an hour or two after everyone's interest in Ozzie got iced. Eh, there was a lot of name-calling going on (some of it warranted ), so it doesn't surprise me. I have no idea when it disappeared though. I was on until a little after the game. I didn't see it get very heated, but I did see a few people scapegoating arrogantly, and some people remaining objective and being all around good sports. Some people (I'm not going to and don't want to call out names, I figure these people know who they are) need to simply grow up and not just blatantly attack, attack, attack. Disagree all you want, this place wouldn't be as exciting if there weren't any, but keep it calm and fairly civil, I don't think that's such a hard request. This is why I rarely touch GDT's. No I'm not calling for a ban of them alltogether, that's never going to happen, but some of the things you see in there, after a goal given up, or especially after a loss (i.e. scapegoats, overreacting panic attacks) are just ridiculous sometimes, way past the point of being laughable or funny. We do tend to be a bit polarized, when it comes to our favorite players, and it's not fun to have people posting "facts" that we "know" are not true. We're all fans here, right? I was in there bashing Ozzie, later on I accepted the whole team was just as horrible, but I dont remember much actual name calling between people. While that may be true, in the case of yesterday's GDT a warning was posted by me. No one was listening to each other by the end, and some of the comments got personal and emotional, from what I witnessed. If we can't say what we think, within reason, without eliciting a personal attack from another poster, there's no point in expressing an opinion at all. Two trends in general bother me (Note: these comments are not aimed at any particular poster): one is the idea that you cannot root for one player without somehow inherently hating another player in a similar role. The second is that you can't dislike a player on this team without others assuming you're not a "fan." Homerism has it's place but it's no reason to spend the energy trying to discredit another person's opinion. Some discussions make you think (and some have actually swayed my opinion on certain matters) and some just make you want to leave and never come back. I hope no one has ever left the site over a disagreement, since I think the vast majority of regular posters here have very valid and sustainable viewpoints, and solid hockey sense. This forum is head and shoulders above pretty much every other one out there, if you ask me. And that is in large part because the mods take their roles seriously.
