puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 Hope so. Hasek sounds to be playing well..... he is, that's why it's not 4-0 right now. Ping! Did you hear the Flames hit the post? I wish the Wings would even get that close to a goal....

BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 A little better at the end, but the penalties are absolutely out of control with this team. It's not bad calls this last couple of games, it's a lack of effort. They're sleepwalking out there.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 "and the Flames, after 20 minutes, lead Hasek 1-0." So say the Calgary announcers... pretty much, they are playing Dom out there. I haven't even noticed anyone in a Wings sweater except Dats and Calder. Oh, yeah, and the guys sitting in the box half the period. Gee, this is fun.

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 Calgary is running like a well-oiled machine. I completely expected this. Calgary is fighting for their playoff spot AND they're playing at home where they're almost unstoppable AND they need to put a stop to their losing streak AND they got a talking to from the GM. The Wings are going to have to play their BEST GAME to win, and they're doing far from that so far.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 The Flames forecheck, per usual, is giving the Wings fits, and that's definitely the book on us. Lucky to be down only one. Post, couple nice saves, could be a different situation. Looked decent at the end, though.

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 Seriously, McCreary= fail. I didnt see the call on Maltby, but the ones on Lang and Markov were justified. I saw some interference on Kronwall in the first 5 minutes or so as he was streaking into the offensive zone, but more or less, the Wings have nobody to blame but themselves for the penalties. dicksmack 33 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 Just got home. The wings are getting another western canada welcome from the refs I see... Same s***, different year.

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 The Flames forecheck, per usual, is giving the Wings fits, and that's definitely the book on us. Really. Why even play the game if the only shots you are going to take are from the perimeter on a Vezina winning goaltender??
tazzer82 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 Why is it this team seems like they don't want to win this game either? I don't know what it is, but every single time they go into western Canada, they get completely outplayed. They're lucky to only be down one goal right now. Should be a couple of calls coming their way, seeing how Calgary has had 3 straight already now. The boys need to put some effort into this next 40 minutes, and actually play like they want the 2 points. That and I want to see the Avs catch Calgary and be the 8th seed. Oh, what does Langfeld bring to the team that Booters doesn't?
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 Im freaking pissed right now. Ive only seen 10 minutes of Red Wings hockey in a week and once I get the chance to tune in, Im stuck with this sh!t. Oh, what does Langfeld bring to the team that Booters doesn't? harmless shots from the perimeter??
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 Really. Why even play the game if the only shots you are going to take are from the perimeter on a Vezina winning goaltender?? well, Dats tried one anemic wraparound-ish move and Calder was right there a couple of times, but the puck never got to him. In the meanwhile, Calgary is using the PPs to their best advantage and throwing quality shots at Hasek. Kipper is gonna have an easy night of it, if the next 40 look like the first 20. We know the Wings can do better than this, and one hopes they will in the second. They can't possibly miss Cheli that bad.
terri27 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 Okay this sucks! The Wings are down by one and I can't put up the Saginaw Spirit pictures from Sundays game. It was awesome. My little nephew loved thge Zamboni ride and the Spirits won 7-3!
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 That first period was awful. They got nothing going. I think it'll change in the second and third. BTW, Hasek kept them in it. Great job by him.
Louisville 112 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 (edited) Babcock in the lockerroom, in a sarcastic voice: "Good job boys, Lilja...great defensive coverage their buddy...remember that part when you could of carried it out of the zone but iced it instead? Genius. Oh and Lang? That penalty you took was great and so was the that unscreened shot from the top of the circle. A few more hundred of those and Kipper will eventually get tired from your intensity. Sammy...nevermind...that's too easy... oh and Kronner, YOUR CAGE IS OFF SO NO EXCUSES!" Of course, he wouldn't have the balls to do that Edited March 21, 2007 by Louisville

Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 From what you can see, has Kipper even broken a sweat yet? I'd say he's faced one quality scoring chance, Markov on the 2-on-1, and otherwise has been untested. So, no.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 From what you can see, has Kipper even broken a sweat yet? No. Actually, I think hes trying some new yoga moves out while hes making the stops. So maybe from that, not from the Red Wings. In fact, Kipper probably still thinks its the pregame warm up.
RedWingsFanatic 4 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 The first period wasn't that bad at all, you guys. It certainly wasn't great, but take away the cheap goal, and it's a pretty solid first period on the road against a team like Calgary. They will need to stop taking ridiculous penalties and things might be okay.
