puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 (edited) Babcock refused to blame the refs, but called out Hasek for flopping on the 2nd goal trying to draw a penalty. oh, it's Dom's fault they only scored one goal and he let in the second one. Ergo, we lost? That's nice, Babs. Never mind keeping them in it while killing 5 penalties, so they had a chance to win. Hope Ozzie has better luck (and different energy from the team in front of him) on Thursday. Edited March 21, 2007 by puckloo39

rwfan007 18 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 alrighty everyone, take a deep breath.... feel better? ok. the reason they play the games in the playoffs is because anything can happen and that stuff doesnt happen until the game is played. Dont rip on the wings until we have either lost a 4th game in the playoffs or are holding up the Cup... chill out. we have about 10 games left and several key players are just getting back from injuries... so take it easy, have a beer, and gear up for a nice finish to the regular season... Zetterberg_is_god 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 Listen man nobody's f--kin cryin! The wings are NOTTTT ready to play teams like Vancouver and Calgary in the playoffs because they are going to lose.Who really deep down inside HONESTLY TRULY believes the Wings will win the cup??? I just tell the truth. And for some odd reason people want to post their opinions but don't wanna hear others unless it's positive.Wings out in the 2nd round. Good call there. We seem to forget how to play well against the Western Canadian Clubs and San Jose, but every other playoff team right now, or Colorado (if they slip in) we can beat and round 2 is definitly not out of the question. The good thing too is even playing Calgary we split the season series and we would have home ice over them anyway. We definitly need to stay positive. RedRum #1 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 Detroit played a solid game tonight...remember this team is still shorthanded. Let me just say this though....some thought losing Zetterberg could expose Datsyuk, when in reality it has exposed Homer...big time.
Calgary Wings Fan 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 I just got back from the game. I have to say the Wings came out flat but answered in the sceond and played alright in the third. Standout plyers were definately Markov, Datsyuk and id have to Lids as always had a strong game. I can honestly say it didn't seem as though we needed and or wanted this game as bad as the Flames. a good game overall as we always struggle in the dome. I think we were the better team out there besides the first period where the Wings seemed a little lost. I really dont think the Flames are a pushover first round apponent, but they are definately not the team that beat us in the sceond round. Good game and an alright performance but you could see that there just wasnt the desperation from the Wings. I still dont htink we match up well against Calgary. IMHO SO HAPPY TO SEE THE WINGS FROM THE COMPANY BOX AGAIN< BUT AS ALWAYS A LOSS.

clutchngrab 12 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 (edited) flames or sharks.... I want the flames. :-; Injuries are a HUGE part of any team and if you aren't seeing that then you're the one not looking at this clearly. The Wings have been phenemonal in the last month with a depleted line up. They beat the best team back to back and just kept on rolling. Now they lose two games against Western Canada so that means they aren't good enough for the playoffs? I couldn't disagree more. The Wings are fine where they are at. They have a great team and will be fantastic once Bert and Hank are back in the line up..and of course Cleary. Just having ONE of them back makes a huge difference, imagine the three. Once this team gets healthy it's the other teams in the playoffs that should fear the Wings. Some of you guys take losses overboard and this proves it. OK, Mr or Mrs. Sunshine. Have they had one good western trip this year? Me thinks not. This team blows against the good teams in the west on their ice. Let's all hope Z comes back because w/out him SJ will beat us in the 1st round. Sad, but true. Edited March 21, 2007 by clutchngrab
clutchngrab 12 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 I said going in to these two games against Vancouver and Calgary that they were to be much bigger tests than the home-and-home with Nashville. The Red Wings failed the test. Anybody who isn't worried about the Red Wings in the playoffs really just isn't looking at this clearly or hasn't learned this lesson already. Talk about injuries and talk about officiating all you want, the Wings are not currently in the position to win a seven-game series with a team like Vancouver or Calgary. Or SJ or Anaheim. We match up great with the soft teams like Nashville, because they or soft on D just like us.
DaWingsin071 4 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 Ok I have been a Wings fan for many years, and everytime we lose the whole world is about to fall apart. Yes we have lost two in a row, and so do many other teams. But no one was complaining when we kicked Calgary's ass 7-4 with Joey M in net, come on we know we can beat Calgary, Vancouver the only way they win is with a hot goalie. Were seeing that the Wings can play lousy hockey, just like everyone else in the league. Its sports and thats what happens. I will tell you this when we get Zetterberg back and we bring in Bertuzzi, there will be a fire in this team come playoff time. We are seeing a team that just wants to get the playoffs started already. So chill out sit back and enjoy the ride. GO WINGS
shadow47 1 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 (edited) Hasek screwed up. Was down on his back for no good reason. Wrong...he was trying to do too much and draw a penalty so DET could actually mount an attack, but only because the refs were handing the Flames the game with PP's. You can't blame the guy for trying. It's just like Holmstrom, the refs will always give the benefit of the doubt to the opposing player in a penalty situation. It was a dive, but so was Friesen's crap earlier that was a penalty. In the end it was the winner, but look at how the 3rd turned out...barely any chances at all. You aren't going to do too much scoring 1 goal per game. BTW anyone else notice how much Calder dives at pucks? It's like one time per game or so--I've always imagined players doing that so regularly but hadn't seen it til now. Edited March 21, 2007 by shadow47

We have proven that we can win with Sabourin in net too, against Anaheim. We have 4 great, hard-working lines right now that are getting the job done regardless of who is in net. All I am saying is come playoff time, if Roberto is off his game, to me Vancouver does not pose a threat. Just my opinion, but I would like to see them prove me wrong. Plus the Sedin bros are scary looking. Im not saying Vancouver is a terrible team, they proved that to us the other night. BuckeyeWingsfan80 209 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 Hell after reading the last couple pages of this s*** thread, I really wonder why the Wings even bother sometimes. If they read these pages, they just wouldn't waste anyone's time. Now get a grip people and get over it. I'm 100% certain the players will.
dragonballgtz 273 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 I cant understand why people are so worried about this. 1. Calgary played their BEST hockey. 2. Detroit played AVERAGE hockey 3. They only lost by one goal 4. They battled through terrible officiating 5. All of this with a depleted offensive corps. Pretty much what I was thinking. I would also like it if the Wings would not try to push to hard for first overall in the league. I would like them to clinch a playoff spot then rest a few guys. Get all those little bumps and bruises healed.

FinWing 26 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 (edited) With our full lineup, in the playoffs we would beat the hell out of these Flames since they would have a home-cooking disadvantage. They can't win on the road and at neither at home unless the refereeing is like this. Edited March 21, 2007 by FinWing
