Guest Don Corleone Report post Posted March 21, 2007 Screw the Blues If that would've happened to the Wings you'd probably be on the phone yourself bitching to the league to do something. This kind of incompetency doesn't belong in the league. The NHL will always be seen as a garage league until Buttman does something other than dilute league talent through expansion and try to stop fighting. He needs to do something to make the officiating a little more responsible. This mess didn't hurt the Blues that much because they aren't going to the playoffs. In fact it may have helped bind them together as a team. But there were consequences. Pittsburgh is in a fight with Ottawa for home ice advantage and that's the team it hurt. Mr. MaGoo is incompetent and should be fired. He's always been that way. Seems like there is a player or players on each team he goes after or in this case whole teams. Mighty Wings 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 (edited) For those who haven't seen it yet or wanna watch it again, found some videos from last night's game on youtube: 25 cameras missed that one. which was blown dead by Mcgoo. KillerB14 2 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 Well either you are wrong or ESPN's quotation of the rule is wrong. http://scores.espn.go.com/nhl/recap?gameId=270320019 Actually we're both right seeing how we said the same thing. I wasn't aware that the whistle was blown right after the goal in question was scored then pulled out and not counted. The original poster made it sound like play continued right after and was stopped later, reviewed and never counted. Once the play was stopped by the cover up and then the faceoff was dropped without checking then no, of course the goal can't count but not because "the play was over" it would be because "the next play started." They should of reviewed it right afterwards. I'm surprised they didn't.

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 (edited) Wow. Even for McGoo, that's awful. After two calls like that, he shouldn't be working in the postseason. And on top of those two terrible calls, it sounds like they blew the horn to stop the play when the Blues had the puck in the offensive zone, even though it was too late to rule it a goal. Terrible terrible job by McGoo and the officials in Toronto. Edited March 22, 2007 by haroldsnepsts
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 Wow. Even for McGoo, that's awful. After two calls like that, he shouldn't be working in the postseason. Which, of course, means he'll likely be working every game during our first round series.

bogeygolfer 4 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 this is a good thing -the blues are out of the playoffs so losing gives them better draft position -the fans believe they should have won and where entertained -this helps them come together as a team -a chance for the NHL to address a big problem, to prevent it from happening agian

Being extremely pissed off is not what I consider entertaining. Had this happened to the wings, I wouldn't have been entertained at all.
