I don't think he deserved more than 1-2 games suspension...yes it was a bad board, but the injury resulted at least as much from WHERE he hit the boards as HOW he hit the boards.

What he really deserved was to have his face pounded....but the officials put a stop to any chance of that.

As great as Cheli is, an enforcer he is not. Officials or no, he wasn't going to be fighting anyone.

Not the dirtiest hit in the world, but with the "repeat offender" multiplier he ought to at least get punishments ranging from "banned from the league" all the way up to "thrown into a wood chipper."

Whatever. Old spineless Colin up to his old tricks.

Good to hear Lebs is just fine and nothing more serious happened. Nieminen might play like an ******* sometimes but it was a class act by him to go over and apologize. That's the kind of sportsmanship I'd like to see more often.

Yes, definitely a classy move on Niemenen's part, but he still deserves a suspension.

The thing that gets me is Babcock's claim that he never believes that a player will try to harm another on purpose. I'm not saying that Nieminen was out to get Lebda, but he also wasn't checking Lebda blindly or letting up any. But how can Babcock believe that no one intenionally tries to do something when this has happened so many times before? Even if the severity of the hit was an accident, there is always an intention of some sort whenever someone goes in to check another player, like the one I saw Nieminen do yesterday. That's my thought of the day.

Well sometimes you do stuff and you dont think what the major consequence would be ... lets put up an example ... lets say you want to push your friend in the pool even tho your not supposed to be doing that ... and he falls in the water but hits his head on the bottom ... were you aiming for that or you just wanted to push him in the water... its hockey accidents happen ... im sure he didnt want to do that to lebda give him a concussion ... he just saw a hit so he went for it ... lebda wasnt expecting it and got hit the wrong way ... so i would probably agree with babcock ... not every1 is trying to injure ppl accidents do happen
