drwscc 212 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 I know there are quite a few of us here on the boards from Austin, or the surrounding areas. Does anyone know of any good places, bars etc, to go and watch the games? I'm not sure how many Wings games will be shown on VS here, so I was thinking it might be good to find a location that will be showing the games.

BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 Yes the Hockey Town Cafe in Detroit babe Pretty sure that Hockey Town Cafe isn't in Austin Don't know where to watch a game in Austin, sorry. I'll probably just end up watching the games at home here. I think Versus has quite a few of the opening round games.
rivieraillusions 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 Most sports bars here won't announce that they're showing this game or that game, you just have to show up and hope one of the tubes is tuned into VS or NBC.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 Legends in N. Austin (Arboretum area) might be good, it's in the Holiday Inn at 360/183. I would call them and see if they have Center Ice and if they will be showing the NHL playoffs, though. I am surprised at how many Wings fans there are in Austin who frequent this forum. I dont even have cable in my place (poor grad student) so that isnt a real possibility, but I would love to find a bar and join some other wings fans in watching the games.... Hockey, since I've moved here has been my least favorite loss...

We should definitely plan something like this. But first, we have to figure out where we can go to watch the game.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 I think this is a great idea. We should definitely plan something like this. But first, we have to figure out where we can go to watch the game. I called Legends, and Anthony, the bar manager, said he will show any and all Red Wings playoff games and would "love" to have us Wings fans. He was very excited that we wanted to come there and watch the playoffs. Who's interested? I'll be able to come to at least some of the games, for sure. April 15th, anyone?? It's a really nice place, lots of parking, and 30 plasma screens. And the food is good, besides.

I am also in at legends... and I support the Idea of a TexasWings fans gathering... preferrably somewhere in Austin!! puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 (edited) I was told that either Ringers or ThirdBase will also put the games on if we ask... cool! I have Center Ice, but it would be nice to meet some of ya'll, it's always more fun to watch a game with other fans, right? Let's try for Legends on Sunday. I will definitely be there, if some of you guys want to go, too... Edited April 9, 2007 by puckloo39

BigTex 1 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 Wow, I jumped in on this topic late! Count me in!!!!! Living in Texas sure has been hard in that respect. I'm goign to apply for permission tonight to attend. If my 9 month old gets his nap in early maybe the whole family can attend. Legends is a great place to watch the wings, I've done it in years past and was very happy. So are we meeting for the Th or Sun game or both?

Thursday game is at 6PM, so that might be a problem for me, as I tend to work later than that, but I will try to peel out of here early. Sunday game is at noon, but is on NBC, so maybe it's not the best choice, since most can watch on TV at home... I dunno. You guys decide and I will try to make which ever one/s you pick. That would be awesome if you can bring your family, Tex! We gotta train 'em young to respect the Winged Wheel, right?
