Guest GodofHockeyStevieY19 Report post Posted April 10, 2007 (edited) i was just thinking to myself, how much lilja being in the lineup scares me ....... Ive been there man(Especially last year Vs Edm). And im still there. These are the times where I miss Fischer even more. Although Lilja whooping some ass the other night definitely gave me more respect for him. But this is the playoffs. Its not like anyone drops the gloves this time of year anyway. Lilja is definitely a liability on the ice(strictly because of his speed, or lack there of). However I would choose him over Quincey at this point. Maybe sometime next season. But for now. Lilja unfortunately is the best choice. Edited April 10, 2007 by GodofHockeyStevieY19

Lilja is definitely a liability on the ice(strictly because of his speed, or lack there of). tell me about it , man do i miss fischer , he's such a big loss ......i was watching a tape of yzerman when he announced his retirement and they showed vladdy and i was thinking to myself wow man if we still had him on the team , flames guys would be getting laid out left and right on thursday night , just imagine if we still had fischer with vladdy , what a back end we'd have anyways lol back to quincey , did you notice if he was a fast skater or not ?? physical?? i mean he couldnt be worse then lilja , if he played he'd most likely play with chelios ..........don't know if id feel at ease with chelios and lilja as a pair , but we all know babock will play lilja game 1 .....maybe we'll get lucky and he'll dress quincey as the 7th d
Wings_Toledo 233 Report post Posted April 10, 2007 He won't win any speed skating competitions but he plays a smart game for a young defenceman. What I noticed most about his game is that he makes very good decisions on when to pinch and when to jump into the play. To me, he's the closest thing to a replacement for Kronwall that we have, even though his game is different.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted April 10, 2007 From the limited action that I've seen him in, doesn't look to be too good/too bad in any area. No major weaknesses, but nothing to really stand out yet. Guess I gotta see him play more. I missed the last game though, would've been cool to see his goal. He's 7th defenseman right now, no questions asked, regardless of how much we might dislike Lilja.
rwfan007 18 Report post Posted April 10, 2007 personally, i think lilly has been playing really solid lately. i would have no reservations in putting him in any situation except the PP.
hak 21 Report post Posted April 10, 2007 i think and hope that lilja will be stepping up a bit this years playoffs.. if it will ever to happen it should happen now
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted April 10, 2007 (edited) If Lilja plays like he has lately, with a physical edge, and he plays solid on the penalty kill, then he will be fine for the Red Wings in the playoffs. If he goes back to bad giveaways and plays with minimal physical presence, then he will be useless and likely a liability. Quincey was solid in his limited action, but at this point Lilja is a better option. Sadly, Fisch never had a chance to prove how good he could be. I miss him greatly, and Lilja makes me miss him even more. Edited April 10, 2007 by GoWings1905
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted April 10, 2007 Lilja has been fine lately. Hes showed a hell of a lot of poise the past few weeks and has finally brought a phsyical element to his game. I cant complain. Hes keeping his game simple and isnt making a ton of mistakes. Im fine with him as our #6.

Chase 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 Lately I have liked Liljas play, Im not to worried about him being in the lineup when the playoffs start. As far as Quincey is concerened, I guess I havent seen enough of him. I missed the last game, so I missed his goal. But from what Ive seen theres nothing to not like I suppose. superstarsingh 23 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 He is doing well, give him some more NHL time and he will be a solid defensive dman. Good old Mississauga boy too.
Lidstromrules16 7 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 Hasnt looked bad at all defensivly. His offensive awareness could use some work, but, as my lacrosse coach once said, if you can play defense, you can play
