Good series guys!

I really thought we were going to pull out a win last night. Our rookie Moss had the open net but sailed the shot over the net, too bad for him that will probably haunt him for a while. Even if we had pushed the series to seven I didn't like our chances one bit in Detroit. It still would have been nice to push the series a little farther. Detroit is definitly the better team, and Calgary got out classed and out played.

Like I called, a much calmer game last night. I hope some of you have cooled down and don't think Calgary is just a goon squad out injure your whole line up anymore. Lots of Flames fans are calling for Playfair's head today, but I don't think that will happen. I would fault some of the problems with this team and series on him. But the brunt of the failure should fall on the team and the leaders in that team.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of moving around this summer for the Flames, with all the contracts ending and such. The Flames have such a great team on paper. 4 players with 70+ points. Most defence men with a great plus/minus, plus an all start goalie. So overall it was a disappointing season. With the Flames doing so poorly on the road and so great at home there is obviously something quite wrong with them, although no one can seem to put their finger on it.

Anyways. Good luck Detroit in the next round against either San Jose or Dallas. I think you'll have a better chance against the Stars personally.

Cheers,

Burninator

I have a serious question: how can any knowledgable flame fans want iginla wearing the "C"? he's too hot-headed to be a good captain. he led the flames down the path of ruin in game 5 and acts like a loose cannon a-hole on the ice most every night. his talent is there--but being captain isn't solely about talent.

frankly, i think he's the worst kind of personality you'd want in a captain. horrible.

Igoonla has shown he can strap the team on his back at times, which is great for a captain.

but then like in Game 5, he also shows terrible judgement when the going gets tough.

A team is never gonna win the STanley Cup because of their captain complaining about the other team and gooning it up. Igoonla needed to be more focused on what his team needed to do to win and inspiring them to play that way.

His attitude reminds me of Arnott in Edmonton.

I was so bummed out all day. I work early in morning so do can't stay up too late for the west coast games. But I was laying in bed with the radio turned down low. As it went it to the second overtime I turn it off and finally fell asleep. I woke up this morning believing they had lost in the second overtime. Someone I work with told me that they had won and I didn't believe them I just blew them off. I was so sure they had lost. I just got home, came to LGW only to read Franzen won it for the wings. :siren::yowza::siren: It was all a dream, I hate that I can't say up late too watch those games. I NEED TIVO

Iginla has quite the interesting season this year. He got off to his trademark slow start, but then picked it up and was on fire. Then he got hurt and missed a couple weeks and just wasn't the same after. Decent ending to the season with points and all, but not quite what he was like before he got hurt.

Iginla seems to be in a transition in regards to what kinda of player he is. He is not the same player that you saw in '04 during the playoffs. His physically play has gone down a lot, he isn't quite the battler he once was with the puck. Don't get me wrong, he can still do all these things. And is still known to single handedly determine the outcome of a game. But as you said the talent is there, so why has he been changing the past two seasons? I don't know.

Despite what the Detroit fans think I am not willing to write him off as captain by any means. Him acting like a "loose cannon a-hole" is not common as this series would lead you to believe. He does not act like he did game 5 every night, or even most nights. If you believe that I suggest you watch more Calgary games. With that though, he leadership seems to be taking a back seat in light of recent and not so recent events. Hardly to fair judge him solely on this playoff series, but a lot can be learned from it.

The Flames have some big decisions to make regarding Iginla, Kipper, and Regher this summer, all whose contracts run out. Of course they have the choice to keep all of them but that would eat up a lot of cap space. If Iginla does keep "going down this path" then I would agree he isn't worth the money. But as I said, by no means I am willing to write him off yet. I think this summer could be very interesting for the Flames, big changes certainly could happen. The talent is on the Flames, but the chemistry seems to be lacking.

Cudos to the Wings, they dominated us all series long. When you get outshot 255-129 over six games, its impossble to win, even with Miika between the pipes. Congrats Wings and their fans, the better team clearly one this round. Good luck in round 2.

Miika was stellar for you guys. Better luck next season, just not against the Wings, OK? :P

Thanks!

Mikka stood on his head. He played great.

However, facing that many shots he was going to break sooner or later.

Great series, thank God the wings got over the first round hump.

BRING IT ON WEST!
