Why not Wade Belak,he might be cheaper?

Cause Wade Belak is horrible. Sutton can actually defend and is a top four guy in all situations on his own team.

Woo !

One of my choices have already been fulfilled with Igor signing...

But, now who's NOT going to be signed. I dont see Igor being sent down(which enables him to leave to Russia), so there goes another roster spot. So, we have 11 signed forwards. Hudler will be resigned, so 12 signed forwards for next season. Only one of Calder/Bert are probably going to be signed and we need a 2nd line forward more than a bottum line energy player. If Bert doesnt really start showing up better in these playoffs, I'd rather let him go. We have shown this playoffs we dont need a huge hulking forward dominating the game.

My new wishlist is now this:

+ Selanne(RH shot) or Gomez

+ Sarich($3.5?)

+ Kindl(impresses in camp and takes Schneider's spot)

+ Howard(impresses and takes splits time with Hasek)(Trade Oz for a pick)

But, I'm wondering if we could swing Selanne's salary?

Agreed. Sutton would come just as cheap, and he doesn't suck like Belak. I like watching Belak fight, but after that, he's pretty brutal.

Well...Not signing another center would be good considering the amount of quality ones we have. On the other hand I'd love letting Lang go and signing, for example, Nylander.

The Rags have all but locked up Nylander for next season. I doubt he'll leave there.

Yeah and I've been thinking, he's not exactly a spring chicken. I don't mind old people y'hear! but enough's enough.

The latest issue of The Hockey News had UFA/RFA lists for all the teams... Just at a quick glance some players I saw that could be nice to have here(note: i'm not sure how realistic any of these are, they're just all UFA's; I avoided the extremley unrealistic ones such as Pyatt and Drury)

Ladislav Nagy, LW

Matthew Barnaby, RW

Petyr Sykora, LW

Richard Zednik, LW

Todd Fedoruk, LW

Ruslan Fedotenko, RW

Dainius Zubrus, C

Nagy would be awesome... He made 3 million this year, so if we dropped Bertuzzi/Lang and kept Calder our forward lines could look something like this..

Nagy-Datsyuk-Filpulla

Holmstrom-Zetterberg-Franzen

Cleary-Draper-Maltby

Calder-Grigorenko-Samuelsson

Hudler, Kopecky

Franz and Samuelsson could rotate spots depending on who's doing well, as could Flip and Grigorenko depending on how well each plays.

Nagy was a flop for Dallas in the playoffs, he disappeared. We don't need anyone like that. Also never ever separate Datsyuk and Zetterberg EVER.

We may very well have to if we want a reliable second line. Dats already showed he can play very well without Zetts, now its just a matter of finding linemates for Zetterberg. We'd be much better off with two solid lines than one. Also, both Dats and Zetts are natural centers.

Also 1 playoff flop does not equal constant playoff flops. Look at Datsyuk. Should we have gotten rid of him because he hadn't scored since 2002 in the post season?

You make a good point with Datsyuk but he is a different player than Nagy, and Nagy didn't do anything not just scoring.

Actually, we might have a slim chance with Drury, if only because he might be one of those players that wants to play on a winning club over a non-contending one. Some players don't take those 7-million dollar contracts with columbus type clubs simply because they'd rather make 5-million and play for a cup with other talented players.

That being said- he's going to get 7-million dollar type offers from like 24 teams, right? :P

I actually could see Drury in Columbus, simply to play with Rick Nash and get 80 assists on one line :P

That said, with Hitchcock, Columbus won't be horrible forever.

Chicago, on the other hand, will be and Nashville is going to take a tumble next year as well.

My wishlist is for Detroit to get younger and faster on the ice this summer. And I wish they don't go overboard with the spending so that there is room for a move or 2 in the regular season.

Ugh. Nagy is a horrible choice. 3 million for a guy that is almost always hurt, is inconsistant, and has never been a good playoff performer. Not to mention the fact that he is probably one of the softest players in the league, and adds no grit to the lineup at all. Bertuzzi does add grit and another dimension to the team, even if he has been sluggish so far. I'd much rather keep Bertuzzi than spend all that money for Nagy. He would not help us at all. We have enough players who play his style.
