HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted May 10, 2007 ^I'm definitely not trying to call you out or anything, but I consider myself a fairly "new" hockey fan (in terms of years watched and understood), and Detroit has an AMAZING shutdown line. You need to be mindful that San Jose has a more high-octane defense than we do, and Detroit limited them to around twenty shots for an entire game! We took sixty or so shots on Vancouver, and we must acknowledge Detroit's nasty defense. I hope Carlyle and his team have a good plan for this, otherwise I'm calling for Bombay and Goldberg. You are pretty smart for a new fan. Props to you. Not because you complimented the Wings, but because you are one of the rare Anaheim fans on here that have been smart, and classy. Duckboy6 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2007 (edited) I believe this series can go the distance, because both Teams consist of similiar characteristics: Both have a great shutdown line, solid defense, strong goalies. This is going to be a great series no matter what the outcome and The ducks need Mcdonald and Selanne to produce because without them we just dont matchup offensivly and we cant keep relying on our Defence to get goals, you just cant continually count on that. All and all it will be a good series and i really wont be surprised to see a couple 1-0 games like the last meeting between these two teams. May the best team win and go on to represent the western conference in the Finals. Edited May 10, 2007 by Duckboy6

DEVILSWATERBOY 10 Report post Posted May 11, 2007 Sharks fans were embarassed and even disgusted by their team's performance against the Wings. In fact the Sharks practically handed the series to Detroit on a silver platter. It was a shameful and unispired perforamnce and the Wings looked almost as listless as the Sharks in the first 3 games. The Sharks/Wings series should have been much more compelling than it was. As for Wings beating the toughest team (i.e. Sharks) in the NHL. Where do you get that idea? If you want to see tough...hang on it's coming in this next series...speed, tenacity, power and hard hitting = Ducks team that will wear the Wings down in 5. And claiming that the Ducks don't have depth? They had six 20+ goal scorers and all 4 lines are quality lines including one of the best checking/shutdown lines in the league. Speedwise...it's no contest and the Ducks have 3 of the best 4 defenseman in the league (the 4th is Lidstrom). Goaltending...I'll take Giguere any day over Hasek who is too unorthodx for my tastes and prone to gaffes. Try to enjoy the series because if you are a Wings fan...it will definitely be a bumpy ride! Go Ducks! How many Noris trophies has Lid won until your team beats the big boys on the block and wins it all and I do mean winning the cup not just a series or two then you earn the right to bash and brag until then shut your pie hole up I believe this series can go the distance, because both Teams consist of similiar characteristics: Both have a great shutdown line, solid defense, strong goalies. A Cup? 1 Cup? Try 3 in the past 10 years. The Ducks - like every other team in the league - measures itself by what the MIGHTY RED MACHINE does and has done. How about winning a FEW Cups and changing up their ridiculous team name for starters? Ducks ain't got s*** to do with hockey other than ice is made from water and Ducks swim in that. Even if the Quacks get past us, how in the hell can anyone argue they are going to go in and beat Ottawa [the likely East winner] or the Sabres? San Jose fans and even more so Flames fans seem to understand the game. Ducks fans are still new to the sport. Edited May 11, 2007 by motorcitykid

What the hell does a 'Red Wing', a Shark, a Maple Leaf, a Panther, Lightning, Sabres, Senators or Kings have to do with hockey? Exactly. And it doesn't matter if I'm new to the sport or not (which I'm not), I know hockey like the back of my hand, and it has nothing to do with whether I'm a Ducks fan or not. Do your homework. It's laughable you included those teams in your question. Now it's one thing to name a team after something strong, tough or intimidating, but to name it after a damn Disney kids movie? Cmon, you gotta know this is going nowhere ... <<< then again, rubber duckies are cute, i'll give ya that!

Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted May 11, 2007 An expert rebuttal from motorcitykid! He didn't even need to use words or even letters. Seriously, since when do team names have anything to do with the sport? Unless you're the Cityville Ice Warriors or something you're gonna have a tough time relating your team name to the game in hockey.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted May 11, 2007 Their two goalies are 1 and 2 on the ALL TIME LIST for shutout streaks in playoff history. Wrong. Nice try with the made-up stats. Are you trying to prove something to yourself?

Unless you're the Cityville Ice Warriors or something you're gonna have a tough time relating your team name to the game in hockey. That was my point. Why does it matter if your team name relates to hockey? It doesn't. Wrong. Nice try with the made-up stats. Are you trying to prove something to yourself? Actually, I believe they are 2 and 5. Bryzgalov is at 2 while Giguere is at 5. Either that, or Giguere is at 4. In playoff shutout streaks that is...
Guest Crymson Report post Posted May 11, 2007 (edited) Watch your mouth, duffer. You Ducks fans have come to our boards, insulted our team and ourselves, and made general nuisances of yourselves. Compared to Sharks fans, you are scum. You are in fact even worse than the Calgary trolls, and the series hasn't even started yet. Off with you. You're annoying and disruptive, and you have nothing constructive to say. Edit: this excepts a choice few, notably Wild Wing.
