In some way, I do sometimes feel disgusted to be Canadian from what is said and shown on CBC. The jerks who work for HNIC, sports stations, local newspapers don't give sh*t about the Wings. It's pathetic

I've never seen it firsthand, but les Quebecois have a reputation that they'd rather the Habs miss the playoffs with a team entirely made up of people with names containing "Le," "-eur" or "-ault" than win the Cup with a bunch of Euros and those filthy English speakers.

actually, they will start by asking that frenchiesget special treatment to make the team (Latendresse gets preferential treatment over Samsonov; every year theres one or two cases like this), and after the non-french guy's career is ruined, they start bitching the french guy because he's not good enough after all. then they rince, and repeat.

and yes, the media here are EXTREMELY self-centered. last week in the Journal de Montreal, right after the Wings had bumped the Lames, there were 4 full pages on Kovalev's underachievments and talks about wasting another 6 million to get rid of him after wasting 8 million to have him do sweet f***-all....and one paragraph about the Wings. Sometimes when you're watching a game, and they start telling the "out of town" scores, if something happens, they will simply stop right there and never resume, so you are left knowing only half the scores that night. Pathethic really.

Come on daft_davy you know if somebody doesn't pick the Wings to win, they are 'disrespected' and the person doesn't know jack squat about hockey right, espeically if he or she is a professional analyst or journalist or somebody in a related field or career. Yeah, but for some reason they are hated here something fierce (except here in Ottawa) but around Canada the Sens get bashed and hated, I don't get it.

I'm hoping for a Top vs Top seed Final! Screw the Canadien action, all of a sudden their home town (Canada) hero's with the officiating on their side. Not to mention I'd like to see the Buffalo Sabres as the favorites. Detroit just seems to take a better stance when feeling like they gotta prove something.

I never felt the bias until I moved out to Vancouver. It's palpable, and embarrassing. An American team full of skilled Euros that hails from place that calls itself 'Hockeytown' is like the religious equivalent using the Quran for buttwad. I used to think it was the Wings' big salary amount that spurred the resentment but still persists. That why the Wings must win!!!!! GO WINGS
