GiantRobot 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 The wings need to finish their checks. Anaheim hits constantly, we rarely do.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 no excuses this period. Refs arent making bad calls, nothing unfair at all about the period. We were just completely out worked That's what it comes down to. And we're going to have to watch the Ducks try and trap it out for the rest of the game, which is going to make our offensive chances even harder to come by. Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 A f***in' men... He still looks lost out there. Maybe he needs to beat the s*** out of somebody--prime the "nasty" pump, as it were To me, it looks like he's always trying to override his first instinct on plays. Babs needs to sit him down and say, "Don't try to do too much. Don't think too much. Just hit and cause damage down low."
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 Hmmm. me saving my $$ and not going to tonights game isn't looking that bad so far.
russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 no excuses this period. Refs arent making bad calls, nothing unfair at all about the period. We were just completely out worked I agree that it was called pretty evenly, I'd like to see a warning for all the second shots to the guys when they are already down, but other than that I've been pretty satisfied with the refereeing, WIngs need to get more physical and they need to stop turning the puck over. Hasek has kept them in this one so far. Lets get an early one next period and get back the momentum.

Firehawk 305 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 Yeah the wings aren't finishing their checks. They better get it going. Almost no pressure in the Ducks zone at all that period.

Jedi 1,865 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 Turnovers and sloppy defensive play is what hurt us in the 2nd. Definitely need to clean that up for the 2nd.
Guest bullocks Report post Posted May 14, 2007 in the intermission on CBC, they were talking about how kelly hrudey last year said giguerre isnt a good athlete in net, but he is good with his angles. and how giguerre agreed with him lol how he moves slow side to side. they also said during the 1st ppl were wondering if his chest protector was legal, and it is...but he has these things that make his protector stand upwards more thats why the padding goes so high. Vincanni 1 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 Only positive I can draw from this period is that we're only down by one. That and Dom still seems rather poised. But what's with just about everything else, even when he have the puck in their zone we seem allergic to shooting. Even when we put pcusk towards the net they're more or less passes to someone in front or we're passing it through traffic, just please for the love of god shoot the puck. I know Jiggy ruined us last time we showered with with shots in the playoffs but those at least create rebounds and ugly goals which we've proved we can score time and time again this playoffs. I'm just hoping we continue our trend of getting stronger as the game progresses, we'll need something to swing this back in our favor.
datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 (edited) wings are getting seriously out played. not that the wings turning the puck over an obscene amount is anything new, but c'mon guys!!!!! this is the WCF's pull your head out of your asses!!! is it an unwritten red wing's bylaw that if there are not passing lanes in the defensive zone then one should give the puck away instead of just clearing it?? edicius 3,269 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 Wow, sloppy turnover to begin the period. Did Babcock actually go into the locker room with them?

aflac9262 211 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 Great way to start the period, continue to be contained in your own zone.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 Can't even get the puck past the neutral zone. Just the way the Ducks want it.

puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 I guarantee that if we started taking liberties with the Ducks, they'd call us on it. We just have to work through it. I really didn't like what I saw in the first with apparent runs being taken at Dats right from the get-go. Could just be coincidence, dunno. In any case, it didn't amuse me. Big thing is, we need to be able to get the puck out of our zone. The Ducks were having their way in the zone most of the period, making 5-on-5 look like a power play for them. That shouldn't happen. Hey, Edi... I didn't see the entire game on Friday, just the last heart-attack inducing three minutes. You're correct that the Wings are not good at taking liberties with other teams... and getting away with it. Dirty takes practice, and the Wings concentrate on clean hockey, clean wins. It's really too late for the Wings to get into the business of taking runs at opponents now. It is not amusing, but I also think it will eventually backfire on the Ducks. They think it will get Dom off his game to punch him in the head and say stupid things to him. Wrong. Just makes him more determined, so if that's what they want.. I am more worried about lack of offense than anything else. The Ducks are all over Dom and Jiggy is down there coasting... come on, Wings, we need some goals! Pluck 'em, if they can't take a joke. BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 By far the greatest factor in how this game is going is the Ducks. Not the refs, not the Wings not finding their legs. It's what the Ducks are doing.
