SCF Game 5 (6/6): Anaheim 6, Senators 2

September 13th, loo.

Remember when we all were kids, watching the Cup finals on CBC or whatever station, and it was important? It ain't here. Sorry NHL - southern ice hockey teams add no interest factor to the tradition and dream of the Stanley cup.

what tradition, Flip? WInning by lucky bounces, officiating and trying to injure other players in the pursuit of the Cup, and being rewarded for it doesn't do much for me. I am glad the Wings won it the right way. I live in the South but I cheer for the Wings. It's a lonely life, I tell ya! :P

not watching, on purpose, for the first time in a decade. Can't do it... <_<

I'm with you. I can't remember the last time I didn't watch at least 75% of the games in a Cup Final. This year? 0% of the games in the Cup Final.

Who won the Conn Smythe anyway?

EDIT: N/m, just saw on Wikipedia. Bleh. I guess Niedermayer doesn't bug me AS much.

I hope so too, it really should. The guy certainly made his mark on the season, its not like he was some nobody who didnt contribute anything.

I wonder if he raised since it's not a lock that he'll be on it. Even though he should

hey, I am sure the three dozen households in the US who were watching enjoyed the game, even if they didn't actually understand what they were watching.

Ready to pony up for Centre Ice again in the Fall, especially since my goalie looks to be returning to the Wings. Looking ahead to next season when the Wings will once again bring the Cup home where it belongs. Always believe!!

Congrats to the Ducks. They deserved it. Well this series anyway. :P

Okay I gotta say a few things here: Giggy should of won the Smythe. I don't get it...

I was expecting MUCH more outta Anaheim fans when the last buzzer went off and they won it all. They were great during the game but the second they won..I don't know it was just odd. LOL

Not ONE Ducks player kissed the Cup and they were passing it around like it was a hot potato. TAKE YOUR TIME..YOU EARNED IT. Geeeez. The fact that May and Pronger lifted the Cup before Selanne or Giguere makes me want to puke.

Teemu crying broke my heart. He and Giggy were the only ones I felt good for.

Now I'm going to finish crying thinking about the Wings right now.

i watched most of the finals and most of the crap went the same way as before. I think the Ducks were the darling team for the NHL so they let some calls slide here and there...

Not to mention the Ottawa penalties late in the game were utterly predictable.

f***in' bulls***. God damn it.

Three southern market teams in a row. In a row. God damn it. No tradition left in hockey anymore. Watching Pronger actually touch the Cup was even worse. My heart began to burn when that happened. He doesn't deserve it. Stupid rat bastard f***.

Oh well. It's time to look ahead. The draft is coming up, as is free agency. Should make the summer just a little better anyways.

maybe the rest of them didn't savor the win, since they know they won it by thugging and lucky bounces and felt guilty? It's possible.

Neidermeyer the Conn Smythe? Meh. OK, I guess.

How much worse could NBC's coverage have been? Cutting away twice during the celebrations? That's ridiculous.

Not nearly as ridiculous, however, as the Ducks winning the Cup. This just feels all wrong. Except for Teemu, there's nothing good coming out of this at all.

Scotty and Rob kissed the Cup-- thank the hockey gods that the Evil Sith Lord (TM OsGod) didn't (or maybe he did and I just blocked the trauma of it all).

I can't believe Giggy didn't win the Conn Smythe either. Incomprehensible-- they wouldn't have made it past Wings without him.

Selanne was the 4th to get it after Pronger. May was after him.

I tried to time getting home to see the presentation when I checked the score, but I needed to make a gas stop so I missed it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me May didn't actually get it before Teemu. My brother was kinda watching it, becuase I asked him to keep an eye on it, and he said it went Nieds -Nieds - Pronger - Teemu.

Hahaha I was mistaken. That order is correct. May did get it before Giggy though.

I have a lot of respect for Neidermeyer and Selanne. It was even nice to see Travis Moen win it. It makes it all a little better.

But then Pronger and Corey Perry actually touched the Cup. It was awful. What a disgusting feeling watching them lift it. Ugh.

He did? Must of missed it.

Pronger got around to kissing it, too, if they don't have a Physics Prof lookalike.

I wonder what kind of turn out Anaheim will have for a Cup parade. Or if they'll even care enough to have one.

Thank God. The fact that Pronger got to touch the Cup at all makes me mad, but the fact that he touched it before Selanne absolutely infuriates me. Doesn't surprise me in the least, but boy oh boy...

The Ducks decide to show up for the Finals.... I guess if you're gonna do it...that's the time... :P They deserved to win this series..... They had everything going their way all playoffs, it was just in the cards for the Ducks this year

Teemu crying broke my heart. He and Giggy were the only ones I felt good for.

Agreed. I've expressed my opinion of Pronger, I've said that him not winning the cup is better than Selanne winning it... But I have to change my mind.... Seeing how emotional he was, how much it meant to him.... I sat in disappointment staring at my TV (especially seeing Pronger get it first  ) until I saw Teemu, at which point I pumped my fist and issued verbal congratulations...... Highlighting the good things in life is better than dwelling on the bad.... Congratulations Teemu Selanne, especially since it seems (to me) that this game was your last in the NHL......

I'm gonna read Revelations and see if this came up anywhere...

It comes somewhere around Revelation 18. There was a passage about Hank and Bert and Dats that I quoted a while ago, too.

This is what the holy book says about this World-ending Calamity:

"After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven. He had great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his splendor. With a mighty voice he shouted:

"Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!

She has become a home for That Being Which Shall Not Be Named

and a haunt for every Clueless fan,

a haunt for every unclean and detestable SoCal roller ice hockey player.

For all the nations have drunk

the maddening wine of her adulteries.

The kings of the earth committed adultery with her,

and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries."

Brad May was pretty cool with his family out there. Though sometimes he is a dick, it was cool seeing him out there and share it with his family.

Agree completely, it was a nice moment.

I also appreciated Sean O'Donnell giving props to the Senators and, especially, their fans. Classy.

You're going to aitch-eee-double hockey sticks for that. :P

(really funny, thanks for making me laugh, I truly needed it. I feel really depressed now, hockey post-partum is setting in I guess)
