BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted June 14, 2007 Okay, I saw a link on TheScore.ca saying that he was traded. Now this was on the site 3 days ago, so it seems pretty illegit to me. However, is something of this nature bound to happen? I mean has there been any rumours of this at all? Anyways the link that lead me to assume this... http://www.thescore.ca/sixpack/index.asp?n...;catID=Senators Also, I understand he has a NTC, but this could be waived. Production Line 1 Report post Posted June 14, 2007 Redden just turned 30. Prospects I don't know but the do have Meszaros, Phillips, Preising and Volchenkov all between 24-30. With only Preising putting up numbers close to Redden...
Guest bullocks Report post Posted June 14, 2007 Rumors have it Edmonton maybe interested in him. he has a NTC but would probably waive it to play near his home town. also, the leafs should try to deal mccabe to the islanders. he'd prolly waive his NTC to play there. Bartek 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2007 (edited) Don't count Preissing, he's gone. Why would they want to trade Redden? They have a complete, competitive team and Wade is part of it, they have no cap problems etc., so why? Edited June 14, 2007 by Bartek

They know he's good.

Henkka 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2007 (edited) Well, Wade had a mediocre season. But that's hardly a reason for the Sens to trade him. They know he's good. His mother was sick for months and died in cancer at the first part of the season. Redden was out of his game then, but life went on and he got over it. He was very good and back his own level at the playoffs. I think Redden is the 4th best overall defenceman in the league after Nick, Nieds and Fronger. I'd take him to the Wings in a heartbeat to reaplace Schneider. But of course the trade would be very expensive for us. Guest bullocks Report post Posted June 14, 2007 In that case, who would want him? i'm sure someone would take a chance on him, like i said edmonton sounds interested. BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted June 14, 2007 Yeah, before this season, I considered Wade amongst the elite defensemen. You would have Lidstrom, Pronger, Niedermayer, then coming up closely, Redden. I drafted him second on my fantasy team, so confident in him, but he underachieved so much at the beginning of the season in particular, that I tried to get rid of him and couldn't. This season alone he lost his elite status, IMO. Still a good defenseman, but was probably the 4th most effective on the team this playoffs, behind Volchenkov, Phillips, and Meszaros. I think he might need a new place to play, and he might very well bump up to that elite status again.

I think he might need a new place to play, and he might very well bump up to that elite status again. During one of the finals games the announcers were commenting that something has to be wrong with him. I suppose they thought he was hiding an injury. I don't know if its come out or not but I wouldn't be surprised as he looked sluggish out there. As for the Sens D, I don't think Wade is going anywhere, he's too good. Chris Phillips might be the #1 most underrated dman in the league. Volchenkov finally stepped up and proved he could be an impact defenseman. I guess staying healthy for once will do that for you. Meszaros is a fine young dman and will get better. As for Priessing and Corvo, when they lost Chara and picked up these 2 I knew they'd be better and they were. Yes, Chara is pretty irreplaceable but both Priessing and Corvo were coming off good offensive seasons with San Jose and LA and their production easily picked up the slack for the loss of Chara. It would've been better had Corvo not missed a big chunk of time to injury. Anyway, they lost Chara but added two, good puck movers with offensive game. And I thought right, they were better with these 2 than with Chara. They also have Schubert. He mostly played forward in the playoffs but he's a natural dman I believe. He was one of the Sens best players IMO in the finals. He finished his checks and he hit people hard. I was mucho impressed with him. Sens will be fine on D. IMO, they ought to work to keep Priessing. Priessing is only going to get better. Come to think of it, he'd be a fine replacement for Schneider. Although he'd look good playing with Nick or Kronner or Schnieder for that matter but I don't think we could keep all of them.

toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted June 14, 2007 Especially when scoring on his own net in the SCF... Yeah, he now knows how Steve Smith feels (his words). I think I may rank him as the best defensive defenseman in the playoffs. He's pretty good offensively and moving the puck as well.
