redwingfan19 293 Report post Posted June 14, 2007 (edited) Oh those Maple Laughs. I guess they are showing how desperate they really are, trying to steal people from other organizations Edited June 14, 2007 by redwingfan19

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted June 14, 2007 Sidenote: I love this quote from Scottie! "I like the team. I like the job. The Red Wings know my position. I told them, if anyone calls (for permission to talk), tell them I'm not interested."
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted June 14, 2007 (edited) From the article: Bowman, who is under contract to Detroit, says he is happy being part of its inner-circle. "I'm set with Detroit," said the 73-year-old Bowman, who has won nine Stanley Cups as a coach, all of them since 1973. "I like the team. I like the job. The Red Wings know my position. I told them, if anyone calls (for permission to talk), tell them I'm not interested." If he ever did go there though, it would be nice to see Toronto become a respectable team again. redwingfan19 293 Report post Posted June 14, 2007 I think it may be cuase Toronto feels threatened with the expansion plan. They are doing anything they can at all costs before the inevitable to make themselves better. Lets face it, it's not like the Preds are struggling team on the move, if they go to Hamilton they will still be the same team, and they are way better than the Leafs. So who know maybe Toronto will lose tons of fans. So maybe thats why they are trying to get people like Bowman to help course the ship a bit..

Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted June 14, 2007 If he went anywhere, it certainly wouldn't be Toronto. MLSE, and the Leafs organization as a whole, is a joke, and Scotty is fully aware of it. I really don't think he wants to be a part of something like that.

Barrie 900 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 The Leafs tried to get Bowman in the early 90's. He wasn't interested then, why would he be interested now? Bowman is to smart to work for MLSE. Imagine him having to report to the board ? MLSE calls the shots over there. Anyone who works in that organization is just a puppet, Bowman isn't a puppet. Plus he's 73, why would he want to start over now?

Plus he's 73, why would he want to start over now? QFT. If Scotty goes ANYWHERE (which I highly doubt will happen), it would be back to Buffalo. He lists his experience coaching there as a great regret (meaning he didn't get them a Cup) (looking for the quote online, SabreFriend told it to me earlier tonight). [hastily sez: Buffalo is ably coached by Lindy Ruff] Edited June 15, 2007 by RedRockit
Booster313 138 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 I don't see this happening, taking that job would require a tremendous amount of work on Scotty's part. At 73 years old I think he would rather take his generous paycheck and keep is cushy job of pro-scout. I know Scotty earned it but seriously how cool would that be to be paid to watch hockey!? DaKineMaui 8 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 Scotty ain't going anywhere , he's a Red Wing and he'll stay a Red Wing. A Red Wing through and through.....well and the tattoo of Mario on his forearm, and that closet-shrine made to honor Lafleur....hey who's counting? (Scotty is - he's up to 9 so far......) I think it'd be an attention-grabbing move at least. Go Leafs Go. Get 'em.
