I just started getting into the NHL this year, so some incidents in the past I don't understand, such as this one.... Yeah those comments definitely hurt him. Not to mention Legace is no spring chicken. If he was 24 or 25, instead of 31 or 32, I think we would have definitely held on to Manny. I just started getting into the NHL this year, so some incidents in the past I don't understand, such as this one.... Welcome to the NHL and thanks for being a new fan. As far as legace goes, he was a classic case of biting of more than you can chew. He was a hell of a back up who was never meant to be a starter in my opinion. It was a combination of his actions as well as his words that sealed his fate. The way it went down, he had been telling Kenny, the Wings, then media that he wanted his shot, he wanted to be the guy, he even went as far to say that when Cujo's contract was up if the Wings brought in another big FA that he would leave. So the Wings gave him his shot and although he wasn't the sole reason for our loss that season, he wasn't the reason for any of the wins either. He was just devastated at the way he played in that final series. I believe we were up 3-0 going into the 3rd period. Then we ended up losing 4-3.
