Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 I predict this signing will actually happen. Hnidy replaces Markov.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 I predict this signing will actually happen. Hnidy replaces Markov. But that would mean Eklund actually got something right more than an hour before it actually happened. is that possible?
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 But that would mean Eklund actually got something right more than an hour before it actually happened. is that possible? Yeah i know its a crazy thought isnt it? I'd use the cliche "crazier things have happened", but im not sure something ever has! You know, the more and more i think about this...Shane Hnidy would be a really good replacement for Markov! Im not sure why anyone else hasnt talked about him, he's flown completely under the radar. He's mean, and while he doenst fight much these days, he used to so that part of his game does exist if the need arose. I'd be all for this.
captainsubtext 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 You can tell he had to be really close to a contract with the Wings because now the Ducks picked him up (according to Eklund it's a done deal)
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 ^^ Oh what the hell...i never get anybody i want! Good move for the Ducks as its a huge upgrade over Dipenta.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 If that's true that the Ducks signed them, Holland seriously needs to check and see if Burke has his phone tapped.
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 Have yet to see anything about the Ducks signing Hnidy
Grind_Lines_#1_Fan 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 Shane Hnidy would be a wonderful signing if does happen. He would also most likely be cheap. Now that Eklund reported it, it won't happen
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 DAMN IT DUCKS. They need to stop with the toughness signings. Share some of that s***. GEEZ.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 There's no official confermation. I don't get what Brian Burke's problem is. He must have it in for Holland. He is currently ass licking him a new one during free agency this year.
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 Well i ended up seeing Hnidy to the Ducks on another board, but i believe their link was also Eklund related. But, odds are its for real. I mean of all the people to have a false report about, Hnidy doesnt seem like a candidate! But i guess like they say in Seinfeld.."thats the genius of it". Right Kp? Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 Well i ended up seeing Hnidy to the Ducks on another board, but i believe their link was also Eklund related. But, odds are its for real. I mean of all the people to have a false report about, Hnidy doesnt seem like a candidate! But i guess like they say in Seinfeld.."thats the genius of it". Right Kp? I was thinking the same thing! Seinfeld is relatable to real life matters in so many ways. I was getting excited there, since you all know Hnidy is my kind of player. He would have been an excellent replacement for Markov, and he also fights at the same time (big plus!). But, it looks like Kenny let another one get away. He needs a new fishing pole for free agency, since the one he's using isn't catching the big fish. He's sticking to guppies, when I'd much rather see him land a sturgeon! Still though, it hasn't been officially confirmed. Even though I still think it has happened anyways. So, I'm going to stick to this Seinfeld quote on the situation: "It's not a lie, if you believe it"
Mickeyisms Rule! 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 I'm not seeing any notice of a signing by him. Did you know that he was a Red Wing once before? He was signed by the Wings on Aug 6,1998 and spent that season in Adirondack. The year before that he played for Grand Rapids in the old IHL. Big guy, but I'm not seeing any recent toughness. One major per season that last 2 seasons.
FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 You must've meant Hnidy a Griffin? Right?
Mickeyisms Rule! 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 You must've meant Hnidy a Griffin? Right? From NHL.com career notes: Signed as a free agent by Detroit, August 6, 1998. Traded to Ottawa by Detroit for Ottawa's 8th round choice (Todd Jackson) in 2000 Entry Draft, June 25, 2000. Missed majority of 2001-02 season recovering from ankle injury suffered in game vs. Boston, December 26, 2001. Traded to Nashville by Ottawa for Colorado's 3rd round choice (previously acquired, Ottawa selected Peter Regin) in 2004 Entry Draft, March 9, 2004. Signed as a free agent by Florida (ECHL), December 6, 2004. Traded to Atlanta by Nashville for Atlanta's 4th round choice (Niko Snellman) in 2006 Entry Draft, July 30, 2005. He never played a game for the Wings, he played for their farm team at the time, Adirondack. The Griffins weren't made their farm team until 99 or 2000 IIRC. I meant that the topic title seemed a bit off, there's no way Hnidy would get ice time in the Wings unless our defense is crippled sometime during the season. Guest bullockz Report post Posted July 5, 2007 we have too many d but if we could manage to trade a way lilja i'd be all for it. Kenny said he wanteed to get tougher and Hnidy is a in your face guy. if u wanted to get tougher, why would u trade away lilja? wouldn't u rather move lebda out...trading lilja just for hnidy makes no sense. but it doesnt matter no more, burkies supposedly scooped him up...tho i havnt seen it finalized anywhere.
