Just found this on Wikipedia. Did anyone else know about this when it happened? I know one of my quirks is a fear of playing under the Jumotron because it could fall. Wow, if this happened during a game....

That is pretty insane. I mean, no matter how much preperation is taken, there are always going to be accidents. But yeah, if that happened during a game ... wow.

My NBC, CBS, FOX, ABC, PBS, etc. come from Buffalo. Yes I remember when this happened. Funny it was only 2 months after it opened. It made people in Buffalo wonder if they really needed to get rid of their old arena.

I remember seeing that back in the day when I was using AOL. I want to say they were lowering it for maintenance when it fell. I'm sure they were real happy about it......

When I had a construction job in high school I made some bone headed mistakes like breaking a sprinkler head, but dang nothing compared to being the guy responsible for that behemoth falling. Dang, that's a rough day at the office.

I remember hearing about this. Nothing was going on when it happened, since it came just when everyone got off the ice at the end of practice. Talk about lucky.

I laughed when I saw it too actually...Its only funny though because no one got hurt. I've played at JLA before with my old team years back and I remember looking up at the scoreboard there and its so huge. I can't even imagine what would have happened if it fell if I was out there. But yeah seeing something that big completely destroyed is kind of comical, but ONLY because no one was injured.

It's a damn good thing no one was on the ice at the time. That easily could have resulted in multiple deaths. That would have been horrible to have to watch as a fan at the game. *shudders* Not cool.
