DId we go over the cap last year?

I believe those are Dom and Cheli's bonuses from last season.

Oh ok, that probably makes sense but I thought they take those out of the same year's salary cap and not the next. I could be wrong but then why wouldn't every team just go over the cap then if they knew it wouldn't affect them until the next year?

Anyone else think it's weird that we have spent pretty much as much money on D as we have on offense?

12 Forwards - $20.214

7 D-Men - $19.100

No considering how much money Lidstrom and Rafalski make. Also, don't forget Kronwall's ridiculous contract.

I think that bonuses that are conditional on playoff performance count towards the next year's cap.

The Red Wings have the choice of placing those bonuses on this years cap or next years. My guess is they will take care of them this year.

I guess there will be a little bit more separation once Zetterberg makes an amount of money he is worth.

Could this affect our potential FA signing(s)???

This is what I have this years roster at right now:

Chelios - 1,150,000

Cleary - 662,500

Datsyuk - 6,700,000

Drake - 550,000

Draper - 2,128,000

Filppula - 733,333

Franzen - 941,667

Grigorenko - 858,800

Hasek - 4,100,000

Holmstrom - 2,250,000

Hudler - 1,015,000

Kopecky - 500,000

Kronwall - 3,000,000

Lebda - 650,000

Lidstrom - 7,600,000

Lilja - 1,000,000

Maltby - 883,333

Osgood - 850,000

Quincey - 520,000

Rafalski - 6,000,000

Samuelsson - 1,200,000

Zetterberg - 2,650,000

------------------------------

Total - 45,942,633

Trade Deadline - 2,000,000 (Very Generous)

--------------------------------------------------------------

Total Salary - 47,942,633

Available - 2,357,367

I say we still have enough money to sign almost anyone out there since Kenny has said he would dip into the deadline money if that was the difference between landing a player or not. We are in pretty good shape if we get that one top-six forward, Lilja is consistant like he was in the playoffs, minus that one mishap in game 5 against ANA, and Quincey proves to be a quality depth/7th defenseman incase anyone goes down...

their reference is from here.

The overage is calculated if every player that the Wings signed were brought up this season. This includes the Griffin signings as well as the others like Koopmans (who I think is one team below AHL yes?)

Don't Panic :)

Only bonus-structured contracts (entry-level, 35+ players & players with 100+ days on IR during previous season) are allowed to put teams over the cap.

Yes, as well as bonuses that would put a team over the salary cap during the season.
