Are The Ducks Really In Bad Shape?

Kp- I think you're undervaluing Hnidy a little bit. He was a +15, and also managed to chip in a little offense. For a 5th/6th guy, he's very solid...and certainly a ton better than Dipenta or Huskins.

He doesn't fight anymore, though! That's my problem with him. ;)

Thank you KP for stating what I have thought for months but feared to say:

Bertuzi is useless and washed up. You may have said it different but that is how I feel.

he is done, he is scared to hit people. I believe he had no intention of harming Moore and the fact the man got hurt weighs heavy on his mind, he had no intentions of doing what he did and the fact that he caused that much damage is making him afraid to use his body in the way that made him very good to great.

If it means the same thing, then it is the same thing. ;)

But yeah, it's true. I really laugh at the amount of people here who are mad at Holland for not giving in and giving him a 2-year contract, and are acting like he'll have a career season in Anaheim. He's so overblown, it's not even funny. Watching Bertuzzi play here was disheartning at times, since he was almost as lazy as Lang.

You're right about Bertuzzi no longer using his body. I've gone on occasion to call him a wuss, because a player of his size should be hitting people. We already have one big guy that doesn't hit people (Kopecky), so why have another one like Bertuzzi.

Bertuzzi leaving is addition by subraction for the Wings. He's done.

Even if Neids retires, the Ducks could still hold one of the strongest defences in the league. As pointed out in above posts, there are still a few guys out there who could be signed to fill the gaps.

Burke can't commit any significant salary past this year or he loses at least one of Perry, Kunitz, or Getzlaf. Those three are more important than any stopgap defenseman he might still be able to sign.

Who the hell does fight anymore? Last year there was only 1 player that cracked the 200 PIM mark. Even the top fighters in the game can't get as much as 15 fighting majors in a season, which as recently as 10 years ago was every enforcer's monthly workload.
