haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 What a minute. Wasn't Bucci the same person that wrote the article in the playoffs about how the Wings were so much better without it's 2 veteran players and now he is saying the team is boring without them. What a joke. He clearly knows nothing at all about hockey. Actually he said they were boring in that article too. Yes, I know he had the audacity to not fall all over himself complimenting the Wings, so he must not know anything about hockey. If you read his column you'll see most of the time he makes pretty insightful comments and predictions. And even though he called the Wings boring, he still thinks they're a good team. I still hold that his analysis was spot on. Unless someone unexpected steps up in a major way, or the Wings make a great signing at the deadline, this team won't be bringing home Stanley this year. Is that really such a radical statement?
bringback91 2 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 I don't think the Wings are really boring. I mean your probably not going to see someone deliver a forearm shiver to the back of someones head and bounce it off the glass. Or ozzie two hand someone totally unexpectedly across the stomach, but they still manage to entertain me. I'm really excited for this season. I feel that the so called transition is in full swing and I think they have alot of good young players ready to step up and produce. The team is also far from soft, loved cleary stepping up to defend a teammate, and Grigs not taking any s***. And the whole "old" comment is made simply cause there used to saying it, and they think it's clever and funny without really looking at the roster. I mean really they way they play, does it matter how old Lids and Hasek are? Cheli's in better shape than half the leauge. No, I don't expect every anaylist to drop to there knees over the Wings, but they could get a little more insight and originality in there assesment.

Nope, I feel the same way about pretty much all of the expected contending teams in the NHL this year, the only safe pick would be Anaheim if Niedermayer and Selanne come back, if not, Pronger isn't leading them to the cup. Same goes with SJ, they'll need their defense to majorly step up and hope that Nabokov can carry the load with no safety net. There's no team clear cut above the rest this year and I don't see any other team as it stands being better than the Wings. Whenever you have a team who can score 3-4 goals a night while allowing under 18 shots, you have the formula to win a cup, whether it happens or not is another story. Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 We need grit and scoring at the deadline. And a depth d-man in case of injuries. If we get that, the cup is ours.
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 We need grit and scoring at the deadline. And a depth d-man in case of injuries. If we get that, the cup is ours. And if Hasek holds up again. And if we avoid big injuries. And if we win 16 games in the playoffs....then the cup is ours.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 I guess you could call me optomistic, but I believe this is our year.
